Natasha Pov
"Ssspptt, ssspptt. Natasha wake up. Come on our shift is about to start !". Someone shook me by the shoulder. Slowly I opened my eyes. Turning around, with a sleepy look on my face and my mind still a bit foggy, I looked into Sam's face. Where was I ? When I briefly thought about it, it came back to me. I was in my bedroom. But what the hell was Sam doing here? "What time is it?" I asked a little sleepily. "Almost two. Come on Nat, we have to go," Sam answered me and lifted me up so that I was sitting in my bed. "But it's the middle of the night. Where are you going?" I rubbed my eyes tiredly. "Did you take something or did the vodka not do you any good? Alina Stephens...remember?" That name made my ears prick up. Of course, our shift, the guard. Now it came back to me. I quickly got up and ran to the adjoining bathroom. I slapped some water on my face to wake up. Then I took the sweater that was lying half crumpled on the laundry basket and put it on. After that I ran back to the bedroom, where Sam was already sitting on my bed. "Now we can start," I said and ran off. Sam followed me.
When we arrived at the control room and I opened the door, I saw a picture too funny not to grin. There was Tony sitting in one of the chairs. Half on him, half on his own chair was the sleeping Peter. Sam quickly helped Peter to sit properly in the chair, while I quietly checked with Tony about the situation. "Everything was quiet, she was asleep all the time. Sometimes she made a few sounds and got a little restless, but otherwise everything was fine," he explained. I nodded knowingly and then told him to grab Peter and go to sleep.
After he left, Sam and I sat down in the chairs and made ourselves comfortable. Now my partner got something to drink and some snacks from his backpack, which I hadn't noticed until just now. First we started to talk a little bit about the past years, laughing all the time. Then I started to ask Sam a little bit about the action before. "Why do you think I like her?" I asked, pointing through the window to the sleeping girl. "I don't know, it's just a feeling. You looked at her so...differently. I can't tell you exactly." I was silent for a moment and thought about what Sam had said. "Mhhh maybe. But that's no reason to tell everyone, you little idiot," I said. "Listen, who's been embarrassing me in front of everyone all this time?" He was right about that. I had already given Sam the one or other unpleasant moment, although not entirely unjustly. "Remember when I found you lying on the floor in your underwear after your birthday party and then left you tied to an office chair in the middle of town?" I asked with a grin on my lips. "How could I forget? Thanks to this action, no one takes me seriously anymore," he replied, a bit offended but still amused. "If we are honest, nobody did that before." I returned with a grin and gave him a nudge in the side. "Oh yes, my hamster Willi. He was the most loyal friend I ever had," he joked and I had to laugh. "What happened to Willi?" I asked, amused. "It turned out that he was a secret agent. Unfortunately, he had to leave after he betrayed his employers and saved my life." "You're crazy!" Now it was all over and we burst out laughing.
Suddenly we heard a scream. Startled, I looked at the window into the cell. The girl was sitting upright in her bed, breathing heavily. "Quickly, Sam. Please get something to drink and eat. I'll take care of her," I said, and Sam nodded at me before disappearing. I went to the control panel of the cell and pressed the button that raised one of the windows. Then I went to the door that led to the cell. I quickly opened it and stepped into the room. I moved carefully, not wanting to frighten the girl. When she heard one of my steps, she turned to me. In her look I recognized fear. Arriving at the bedside, I pulled out the chair and sat on it. The young woman was still breathing heavily. "Calm down. Take a deep breath" I tried to calm her down, because I felt sorry for her. After she had calmed down a bit, I continued. "Sam is getting something to drink and eat. Then we'll talk later." I noticed that she was staring at me. After a few seconds her lips formed an ok and she nodded. What was wrong with her ? She was a top trained agent and yet she seemed so vulnerable. Something was not right here.
(Y/n) Pov
After everyone left, I fell asleep. But I did not sleep well. In my dreams I was standing in a forest in a clearing. Around me was nothing but green. Suddenly Lizzie appeared. Slowly she walked towards me. Then I saw my parents, too. They all ran towards me and stopped in front of me. "You left us alone. You abandoned us. It's your fault!" they said in chorus. "What is my fault?" I asked. But they could no longer answer me, because the next moment several shots rang out. They pierced my family and my friend and they went down. Behind them stood a man. He was wearing a black uniform with red stitching. In his hands were two pistols. He looked familiar, but I couldn't place him. "Why?" I shouted. "Why them?" The man looked at me urgently with his cold blue eyes. "Because you promised. One life against another," the man answered me. "But you killed all three of them! You took them all from me. All of them!" I shouted at him, but the man remained calm. "Numbers are only signs in matter. They do not exist. They have no meaning." Suddenly the redhead, whom I knew as Natasha by now, stood behind me. She hugged me. "They are dead (y/n). But I'm still here. I will always be there. Because I always have been." What did she mean by that? I had only just met her. Suddenly a hole opened up beneath us and we fell in.
I woke up screaming. It took a short moment before I understood where I was. I was still in the glass box. After a few seconds, one of the panes went up. Shortly after, the door opened and in walked Natasha. I turned to face her. She slowly moved toward me. Then she grabbed the chair and sat down next to the bed. I breathed frantically as I remembered the dream at the sight of her. After she calmed me down she said "Sam is getting something to drink and eat. Then we'll talk later." I stared at her. She had the greenest eyes I had ever seen. In general, it was only now that I noticed how pretty she was. Her cheekbones stood out slightly under her fine skin and her curved lips shone slightly. Yes, she was beautiful. Moreover, she actually seemed quite nice, even though she had kidnapped me. But I still wondered why she had appeared in my dream.A little later Sam appeared with a tray in his hand. He set it down on the table and I caught sight of the sandwich lying on a plate and a glass of water. Greedily, I made a beeline for it. I hadn't eaten since the churros. The man in the gray sweater had leaned against the wall in the meantime and watched me skeptically. When I was done, he took the tray and brought it away.
"Are you cold?" asked Natasha. Only now I realized that I had goose bumps. No wonder I was still wearing the light top and it wasn't exactly warm in here. "A little, but it's okay," I answered. "Wait," said the redhead. Then she stood up, took off her sweater and gave it to me. "Here. It should be better with this," she said, and I took it, a little unsettled, but grateful. When Sam came back, he seemed briefly irritated that I was wearing Natasha's sweater. Then he grinned at her with a meaningful look before saying, "Good, then we can get started now."
