As I stepped into the great building I couldn't help but gape in amazement.
"Welcome to Gringotts!" Emerson announced, "The wizarding bank.”
I had a million questions circling my mind at that moment, but then something hit me, "Emerson," I started, "Mr.George said that you had an incident with Floo powder when you first arrived, but if you're the only magic one in your family, then how did you have Floo powder?"
Emerson looked a little surprised at the question, but then smiled as she answered. "Well, my mom was in the park one day when Mrs.Weasley, Mr.George's mom, appeared right in front of my mom looking quite frazzled and talking to herself, and nearly ran into her. My mom helped calm her down, apparently something had happened, Mr.George was trying to prank one of his brothers or something, and it ended up pranking Mrs.Weasley, I never got the full story. Anyways, they've been close friends ever since, and when she found out I was a witch she was so excited. She insisted on using Floo powder to go straight to the shop, and well...you know the rest of the story," she finished quickly.
I smiled and as I laughed I asked, "So how are we going to get money?"
"Well," Emerson started, "The Weasleys have been a decently wealthy family since the war at Hogwarts, which you'll learn about in the books we buy you today, and they offered to pay for your stuff, since Mrs.Weasley's son has a daughter going into school this year too. Her name is Rose."
"Well that's awfully nice of them," I say. Just then, a large group of people arrive right in front of the door, and start making their way to us.
"Mrs.Weasley!" Emerson ran up to her and scooped her up into a big hug. She simply smiled and hugged her back.
"Oh, this is my cousin Scarlet, Mrs.Weasley!" Emerson said quickly as she turned to me, "Scarlet, this is Mrs.Weasley." There was a nervousness about her voice, and she kept on glancing towards a man with black hair, glasses, and...was that a lightning bolt shaped scar on his forehead?
"It's very nice to meet you Scarlet," Mrs.Weasley said smiling at me, "Now, I think it's my turn for introductions, since Emerson here only knows me, and from the looks of it she knows of Harry over here," she laughed as Emerson blushed, "So, lets start with the Potters here, shall we? This right here is Harry Potter, though by the way that Emerson was looking at him earlier, I think he hardly needs an introduction."
Emerson walked up to him, shook his hand, then frantically rushed, "I'm sorry Mr.Potter, it's just that I've spent all my years at Hogwarts learning about you and how you defeated you-know-who, sorry, I know you prefer Voldemort. It's just, wow!"
He chuckled and replied, "It's nice meeting you too, but please, don't call me Mr.Potter, call me Harry. In fact, call us all by our first names, otherwise we'll have three Mrs.Weasleys." Emerson blushed and stepped back as Harry started introducing everyone else, making me desperately try to keep up. "This is my wife Ginny," he started, gesturing to lady with bright red hair who was standing beside him, "and my three children, my son James, he'll be a second year this year, my daughter Lily, she's two years younger than you, she'll be going to Hogwarts next year, and this is my son Albus, he'll be going this year with you," it was clear that they were a very loving family, and I smiled at them as Harry turned to the people next to him and continued, "and this is one of the Weasley branches of the family, this is Ron, his wife Hermione, who helped in the battle at Hogwarts too you know, and their kids, Hugo, who is Lily's age, and Rose, who will also be going to Hogwarts this year." he only looked up when another red headed boy came in through the door to which he said, "Oh, and this here is-" he stopped abruptly as he was cut off by Emerson squealing, "Freddie!" She bounded over to him and practically suffocated him with a hug, earning laughter from everyone.
"Yes, this is Fred, George's son, who is in his fourth year this year with Emerson," Harry chuckled. Emerson blushed and stopped hugging Fred, but still held onto his arm. "Later on, you'll meet Victoire, Bill and Fleur's daughter and our godson Teddy. Oh, and Charlie and Percy we don't see much, but they're Mrs.Weasley's sons too. I think that covers it."
It took a moment for me to take it all in, but then I finally just laughed as I said, "Boy, do you have a big family!" That made everyone start laughing, earning us some looks from the people around us.
"Okay," Ginny said as she looked out over everyone, having just whispered something in her husband's ear, "let's get started, shall we?" We went up to one of the goblins, they did some transactions, and before I knew it we were in a coal car like thing racing through the tunnels. We stopped at what I quickly realized was The Potter's vault. I gaped at the mounds of money that were before me. Harry and Ginny simply laughed, and filled a bag that even to me looked like more than was needed, but I wasn't one to judge. We got back in the car and soon we were back in the lobby.
"Wait," Mrs.Weasley said "we were supposed to stop at our vault too."
The goblin just shrugged and escorted them out the door.
Then Mrs.Weasley turned to Harry, obviously wanting an explanation for why we didn't stop at the Weasley vault, and why they picked up so much of their gold.
Harry grinned than shrugged in imitation of the goblin as he explained, "I thought it would be good if I payed for everyone's stuff this year." Mrs.Weasley looked like she didn't know weather to be flustered or pleased.
"Oh, all right," she finally conceded.
"Now," I said with a smile creeping across my face. How about we get our actual shopping done!" Everyone agreed, and soon we were trekking off along Diagon Alley, me in the midst of some very red heads.
