Sunshine

Chapter 6

I flew back to the Malibu mansion and flew through the door that May had already open.

"Thanks May." She retracted into my backpack and I set her down to find Dad downstairs to the lab where dad had started working on his suits again.

"Dad, what happened?" I asked coming up from behind him and to give him a hug when suddenly on of the suits turned on and came up to me and ripped me away from Dad. "DAD!" I yelled over the music that he had plugged into his ears and he turned around and did some weird movement with his hands and the suit powered down then disassembled.

"Jordyn! Are you ok?" he said grabbing at my face and checking my arm for any injuries. Honestly my arm hurt a little, but I was mostly just shocked.

"Ya Dad I'm ok. Just give me a sec to catch my breath and lower my heart rate. What the hell was that?!" I said slapping his arm.

"That would be my newest suit design." I looked confused because I had something like that in my suit for as long as I could remember, why was it new?

"But I've had something like that for a while now." I said confused.

"Yes, but this one I programed with every fighting style and threat analysis." I nodded making an 'O' shape with my mouth.

"So does my suit get the upgrade too?" I hopped on the chair as he turned around to the holo-table and pulled up a different suit then blew it up and it was kind of small suit for him but maybe it was for Pepper.

"Actually you get a whole new suit." I was speechless.

"Th-that's for me?" I said kind of shocked that this amazing suit in front of me would be mine.

"Ya as long as you help me build it." My jaw dropped, I didn't think that he wanted me working I his lab but now he was inviting me to come and help.

"Yes!" I pumped my fists in the air and did a small victory lap in my head. Dad laughed at my excitement and pulled up the suits cymatics and we got to work. We were down in the basement for hours until Dad shut it down for the day.

"Ok we have all the pieces for your new arch-reactor all we need to do is assemble and then do the rest of the suit." I frowned wanting to continue. "But first I have to get ready for date night with Pepper so..."

"Yup got it, I'm going down to get some Noodle's and Orange Chicken from twin panda bowl. I'm taking Jones." I said wiping of my hands then walking up to my room and changing into some cleaner clothes. Which was just a Black Sabath t-shirt and a pair of white cargo pants. Grabbed May and ran out the door where the car and Jones was waiting.

I plugged in my blue tooth headphones that Dad made just for me and turned on a Black Sabath album that Dad shared with me when I first got May and relaxed thought the short drive to one of the best Chinese restaurants ever.

I ordered a giant thing of Noodles and Orange Chicken and rice for Dad. I decided to drive down to the beach and walk along the shore before heading home for dinner.

The sun was setting over the horizon and a cool breeze of ocean air rushed around me. The orange pinks and purples are mixing with clouds painted above like something out of a movie.

I walked along the shore with my feet getting wet with the tide and watching other people enjoy their time at the beach. Waves crashed onto the shore pulling new sand under and unearthing small shells and rocks that were scattered along the beach.

Up ahead I could see a group of friends goofing off and reminded me of how much I missed Dallas and Amaya. So, I decided it would be a good time to go home and call them up on the group video call that we had. Amaya moved to Japan to be with her grandparents and Uncle while her parents attend the university.
