Sunshine

Chapter 11

"Come on Jordyn. Time for the briefing." I heard dad say while I was still half-conscious. I brought my hands up to my face and rubbed away the sleep.

"Ok, I'm up." I said sitting up and quickly stretching before walking over to the table where the plan was laid out.

"Ok," Steve began. "There is an outer wall but, in the power source is behind the outer defense." the table lit up as a visual of the compound showed up on screen. "Tony, you will head in at full force and try to distract them while Jordyn, you fly around the back and find a way to blow the power source so the rest of us can enter the building. While the Starks are busy we need to work on taking out the bunkers that line the perimeter." He turned and faced Bruce with a sad expression.

"This is a code Green." He said seriously. Code Green meant that we needed the Hulk to complete this mission.

"Clint, stay back call out strays and ambushes until the barrier comes down. Then come in and flood the building." He nodded. "Suit up, we land in 30." I walked back over to where May had been charging and pulled out one of the caffeinated protein drinks and chugged it hoping that it would keep me full and awake when Nat came up behind me and tapped my shoulder.

"Could I steal one of the those?" she asked in a quiet voice.

"Ya, Caffeine or no caffeine?" I asked and she scoffed.

"Caffeine, I haven't had my morning coffee and that's kind of necessary." she said as I gave her the drink. She downed it and then I took the last one over to Dad with pain killers; he looked like he was about to fall over from the hang over.

"Here." I handed it to him along with some pain killers. He hurried and downed them both.

"Thanks kid." He patted the seat next to him and I sat down and leaned down on his shoulder. "You ready for this?" He asked stroking my hair.

"Ya, I mean we've faced worse before so we can handle this. Right?" I said snuggling up to his side and taking in the scent of his cologne and focusing on his chest moving up and down.

"Ya that's right pumpkin. We've got this." I could tell that he wasn't super happy with this. Me coming on a mission. It's new and I got that he was afraid, but it was about time that I go out there.

"Hey, I can handle myself. I've been doing it since before I met you and I can do it now." I said trying to calm him down and make sure that he wouldn't be worried about me during the mission.

"I know kid, but you also tend to throw yourself in front of a bullet for someone else and that's what scares me. You have to promise me not to throw yourself into danger even if it's me in the line of fire." I knew that I wouldn't be able to keep this promise, but I knew I had to try.

"I'll try dad, but I can't just sit back and let someone take the hit when I know I could do something about it." Suddenly the plane shook.

"Well on that note I think now would be a good time to leave." He said activating his suit and I did the same. I looked out the window and saw that we were still in the air and that the bunkers were trying to shoot us down.

"Clint! FCL!" Steve yelled which I wasn't entirely sure about, but it seemed like it could work. Fake Crash Landings were usually a bad idea but considering the circumstance here it would work perfectly.

"Jordyn!" Dad yelled after opening the hatch. "Jump!" He said before jumping and I jumped right after him.

We fired up our boosters and flew off to the compound and brought hell down on every sorry bitch that passed us. We got past the gate, and I snuck around back while dad made a scene to give me time to bypass the power source.
