"Are you okay? You sounded a little sad when we talked." Serena said. "Yeah. I'm fine. I was just thinking." Charles said. "About what?" Serena asked. Charles looked away so she wouldn't see him blush. "Uuummm...some girl." Serena smiled at him. Charles cleared his throat. "Hey do you want to, I don't know, hang out, watch a movie?" Charles said. "What about the coffee?" Serena asked. "Oh, yeah. Yeah. Let's get that cup of coffee."
After they ordered their coffee they watched The Imitation Game.
"I had a really great time today." Serena said. "Me too." Charles said rubbing the back of his neck. "Are you sure you're okay? You've been acting a little weird."
"Uumm..well.." Charles thought about it for a minute. "It's nothing. I better get going."
"Oh, before you go." Serena wrote something down on a little piece of paper. "Here."
"What's this?"
"My phone number. Well, see you later. Call me if anything." Serena smiled shyly and entered her apartment. Charles sighed. He was so confused.
Charles was standing by the phone trying to decide whether or not to call Serena. "Hey Charles. What are you doing?" Erik had startled Charles. "What? Oh...uumm.. Can I talk to you for a minute Erik?"
"Sure. What's up, old friend?"
"You know the girl I told you about the other night? Serena?"
"Yes. The non-mutant." Erik started laughing. Charles stood there with his arms crossed. Erik cleared his throat. "I'm sorry."
"Forget it. I'll have to figure this one out by myself." Charles started to pace. He always paced across the room when he was trying to solve a serious problem. "No, please. Go ahead. What's wrong?" Erik sat down.
"Well, we went out for coffee and a movie today and when Serena and I arrived at her apartment,um, she gave me her phone number and I almost told her I love her. I...I don't know what to do. Should I call her? Should I tell her how I feel? I mean when I'm with her it feels like the world just stops and it seems like we're the only two people. When I'm with her everything is right. I miss her every day that I'm not with her and I have this feeling like my heart is about to burst out of my chest every time I see her. And her smile...her smile makes my day. Her beauty is breath taking..." Charles drifted off.
"Wow. You, my friend, are in love." Charles stopped pacing and looked at Erik. "You really think so?" Charles asked. "Oh yes. Believe me."
"What should I do about it?"
"Tell her you love her. Tell her everything you just told me. I'm pretty sure she won't reject you if you tell her how you feel. Plus she might feel the same way about you."
Charles thought about what Erik said. "What if I lose control of my powers?"
"Forget about your powers for a day. Forget that you're a mutant and follow your heart." Erik stood up and started climbing the stairs. "You never know, she might help you control your powers."
"Wait. What?"
Erik smiled. "Goodnight, old friend." Charles took a deep breath. "You can do this Charles." He picked up the phone and started dialing.
