First Love

Chapter 7

"Come on Charles. You need to go out, get some fresh air." Raven said through the door. It had been months and Charles was still down on the dumps. He'd hit rock bottom. It was driving Charles insane thinking about Serena was saying in her mind. It was driving him so insane that he was injecting himself with a drug that Hank had secretly created for Charles. "What is it going to take Charles?" Raven asked. Charles opened the door. "I just want Serena to be happy...with someone better than me."

There was a knock at Serena's door. Serena got up from the table where she was having Chinese. "Coming!" Serena wiped her hands with a napkin and fixed up a little hoping it was Charles. She opened the door. She was suprised to see Raven standing at her door. "Oh, hello." Serena said. "Hi. I'm Raven, Charles's sister." Raven said smiling. "Oh of course! Charles told me all about you. Come in, please." Serena stepped aside so that Raven could enter. "Thank you."

"Do you want something to drink?"

"Water please." Raven said sitting down on the couch. A few seconds later, Serena came back with a glass of water. "Here you go." She said handing her the water. Raven smiled in gratitude.

"What did you want to talk to me about?" Serena asked. Raven took a sip of water. "It's about Charles. He's...not himself lately."

"What do you mean?"

"He hasn't been out of his room in months only on occasion to take a shower and brush his teeth and whatever else he does in the bathroom. He's been wearing the same clothes, and he won't talk to anybody, he won't let anybody in. Did anything happen between you guys?"

"No. I gave him my phone number if he needed to talk, but he never called. Serena was on the verge of tears. "I had a really good time with Charles. He made me forget about my problems. I could be myself when he's around. He makes me happy." She was crying now. "I miss him so much. I love him."

Raen hugged her until Serena's crying stopped. "I can see that Charles loves you too, but he's afraid of admiting it, because he thinks you won't feel the same way. I think the best idea is for you to talk to him. Maybe, he'll listen to you and tell him how you feel. Surprise him." Raven said standing up to leave.

"I'll do that." Serena said with a smile.

"Thanks for understanding."

"Of course. Thank you for letting me know. It was nice meeting you."

"Same here."
