It had been a busy morning preparing for the long day ahead. Just when you had finished packing up Bucky had come to your apartment to pick up your luggage and haul it out to your car. You'd told him that you could manage to get it, but he had insisted on doing it. He had gone over and beyond with preparing for this trip with you, he even crafted a playlist of both of your favorite songs that you could play while on the trip. Both of you had a strong bond with music, and when Bucky had first come to the Compound, a fluid part of his recovery consisted of music.
It was no secret that flying was your least favorite thing to do. Tony had tried to convince you to take his private plane, but you never wanted to mooch off of Tony, after all, he employed you; he had given you a place to live and helped you out tremendously with day-to-day life. So, instead, he bought you both first-class tickets, even though you had nearly put up a fight. You understood though that everything he did was for the safety of his team. He'd also made it clear that any member of the Avengers shouldn't be flying anywhere but first class.
Once boarding the flight, you felt like you were nearly going to have an anxiety attack. Bucky saw this and hurriedly put away the carry-ons so he could be by your side and help you to calm down. He sat beside you, took your hand, and pressed it to his heart. He looked up at you and brushed one of your loose hairs behind your hair before he signaled for you to match his breath. You finally calmed down enough to where you could enjoy flying with Bucky. It would be a relatively short flight. You put on the playlist and shared your earbud with Bucky before snuggling into his side and dozing off. Before you knew it, the plane had landed.

When you landed you immediately went to the car rental place beside the airport to pick up the car you paid for online a few days prior. You left Bucky to try and retrieve your luggage while doing so. The attendant handed you keys, you thanked him and turned around bumping right into Bucky. "Hey, Doll. I got the luggage," he smiled and grabbed your hip, pulling you close, while waving back to the attendant. You walked out the door and found the car. Again, Bucky loaded all the luggage into the trunk of the rental car. You assumed he wanted to drive again so you got in the passenger seat and started connecting your phone to the navigation system so he could easily navigate home. Once everything had been packed up and set up, you and Bucky were on your way.
"So I think we need to get our story together before we get home. My parents can be quite inquisitive," you laughed.
"Okay, well. Let's say we have been dating for 6 months, it's pretty serious since you're bringing me to your brother's wedding. They know who we are and where you work, so we could say that we fell in love when I was recovering after being brought into the compound, but we took our time getting together and putting a label on things,"
"Okay, Buck. Sounds like you've put a lot of thought into this," you jokingly winked.
Bucky replied with a light chuckle before turning the music up and singing with you. Though he would never admit it to you, he had thought a lot about it. He wasn't lying when he said he fell in love with you when he was recovering. Even being as old as dirt, he'd never met a girl like you. He was so fortunate that he was one of your closest friends. You were smart, funny, kind, and everything a guy would want. He was so nervous about meeting your family, he wanted to make you happy any way he could. He felt like he'd never be able to repay you for helping out with his recovery. Suddenly, you turned the music down and reeled Bucky out of his thoughts.
"One more thing and I promise I'll leave the radio alone," you laughed.
"We need to show affection, PDA, make it believable. I'm fine with hand-holding, hugging, kisses on the cheeks, and whatnot. I don't think we need to go overboard- just act like we are in love. Oh yeah, we gotta keep our powers on the DL while we are here."
