Remember... if you need help with your book or want us to write a specific chapter for this book to aid your writing... leave us a comment or PM us whenever and we will do the best we can to help. Thank you.Descriptions can be hard. How do you describe your whole book, make it sound good enough to read, not give anything away, and sum up the story and characters all in a paragraph or so? Well... that's exactly how you do it.
Describe:
You have to make your book, sound like your book. You don't want to confuse the reader by making them think you're writing a completely different plot that the one you are. Keep as close to your book plot as you can, even including a part of the book in it if you want.Make it Intriguing:
You have to advertise your book in a way that people will want to hear more. Even add a little suspense if you have to. Make sure you can hook your reader and appeal to the audience. If you have a super boring description, the readers will think you will have a boring book and won't read it.Don't Spoil!:
If you spoil the book or put out an important piece of information, even it happens right at the beginning of the book, the reader will feel they don't have to read the book to find out what will have to happen. If the book is about a wizard who doesn't know he's a wizard, don't say in the description:Timmy was a normal boy, going to school every day just like everyone else... until he discovers the secrets of his powers. He's a wizard!!
(Sorry for the bad examples)
You could instead say:
Timmy hangs out with his best friend Sam every day. He goes to a normal school for normal people, and yes, the school was boring... like all schools. Until, everything changed. Dark secrets of the past are revealed, and dark magic.
Understand? You can explain more of what happens before the 'event', instead of giving away the story.
Plot and Characters:
You have to portray the plot and characters in your description. Don't make a coward seem brave, or a snob seem humble. And don't make your horror story seem like a romance tween book.I hope this helped. Thanks for reading ;)
