Chapter One The Plan:
Monday June 21st 1690
Macalister, Robert and I were in our hideout. We were camped in the woodlands just outside of Relin and we planned on moving to a different location sometime in the near future, but the people of Relin are better off and have more money, typically, than people in the other four provinces. The infrastructure was more developed and banks were more prevalent. Certain business types received partial subsidies, making it easier to open them and caused more money circulation. The geography of the provinces is as follows.
Relin is to the far North, Fel is to the East, Yutsa is to the Southeast, Vulrock is to the Southwest, and Delron is to the West. In the middle there is territory, mostly forest, that doesn't belong to any of the provinces.
In our hideout, Robert, Macalister, and I sat at a large round table in the middle of the cabin. Robert sat across from me. Robert looked all three of us in the eye before speaking.
"Gentlemen," he began theatrically. His brown hair was unkempt, as it usually was when he spent a lot of time planning something. "I've gathered you here for a meeting. I sent Don out on a scouting mission over a week ago, and he and I put together a plan to steal a rather large sum of money from a nobleman in Relin."
Macalister's eyes lit up. Mine narrowed and I cocked my head.
"How much money?" Asked Macalister, cracking his knuckles.
Now, when most men crack their knuckles it's because they're trying to look tough. That's probably also true for Macalister, but there's a lot less demonstration needed on his end. His formidable six foot six figure spoke mostly for itself, and his blazing green eyes and wispy blonde hair gave him an unhinged look.
"Well, I won't lie to you. It's a hefty total of approximately fifty thousand dollars."
Excitement blazed inside of me. Fifty thousand dollars was a lot of money, certainly more than we've ever stolen. Our total profits didn't even value that much. Macalister chuckled. Robert looked expectantly at me.
"That's... a lot of money. Is it too good to be true?" I asked suspiciously. "It's not that I don't trust you, but I'm a little skeptical."
"No it's not," Robert laughed and rose to his full height, which was a little taller than me. "And if we flawlessly execute the plan, we could be bathing in gold by this time tomorrow."
"Tell us, what's this plan?" Asked Macalister.
"I'll explain, just as soon as Don gets his ass over here."
A few minutes later, the door burst open and Don sauntered in.
"Nice of you to join us," Robert said dryly. "Who's the lucky girl this time? You didn't catch syphilis, I hope."
"My standards are a little higher than yours, and a Scorpion never kisses and tells."
"You do that all the time, though," I countered.
"If you must know, it was the butcher's daughter."
"He's going to butcher you when he finds out."
Don just grinned, his blue eyes devoid of any fear or concern. He ran a hand through his neat black hair and motioned for Robert to go on.
"Anyway," Robert said curtly. "The estate in question is located in the North end of Arc. I assume you all know it's the capital of Relin?"
