chapter six - brunch

-

billie had driven the two of you about an hour from the motel to go out for brunch. you had worn a floral blouse and light pink pencil skirt from her suitcase, while she wore a crème colored dress and white cardigan.

"here we are." she pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant.

it looked nice, and extremely expensive.

"do you bring all your one-night stands here?"

"no, but you're a two-night stand."

you laughed and took her hand.

inside of the restaurant, it was elegant and fancy. the two of you were seated in a window seat on the second floor that overlooked the city that was a couple of miles away.

"it's gorgeous." you looked towards her.

"not as gorgeous as you."

she put a stray piece of hair behind your ear with her salmon nails. you bit your lip and could feel your face becoming red. something about billie's presence made you feel warm and fuzzy. but you knew you couldn't get attached to her. she was just a weekend fling and nothing more.

"could i get you started with something to drink?" a waitress came over.

"i'll have a mimosa please."

"i'll have the same please." you smiled at the woman.

"of course, could i just see an id?"

you reached into your wallet and pulled out your id, showing the woman.

"okay, thank you."

the woman came back shortly with your drinks and took your orders. billie ordered eggs benedict and you ordered crepes. after she took your orders, the waitress brought out your drinks.

"i didn't know you drank."

"you make a lot of assumptions about me." you laughed.

"maybe cause you don't tell me anything."

"to be fair, we met less than twenty four hours ago, and a majority of that time was spent sleeping or doing things where you don't exactly make small talk."

"valid point."

"what do you wanna know?"

"anything."

"well, i have a sister, but we don't talk, and i don't really talk to my parents much either. it's complicated."

"i get that."

"my favorite thing to do is just walking around the city and shopping."

"i love the city, and shopping. put them together and it's like heaven."

you giggled and sipped your mimosa.
