—Wren—

Feng lay a tattered blanket down on the ground, spilling out an assortment of food, and made a gesture for me to sit down. I picked up my skirts and folded my legs beneath me. taking in a breath of fresh air only to be greeted with a strong musky stench. Did he know you can wash a blanket?

"I got some salad, some sandwiches, some nightshade..." he said picking up all the food to show me. I knocked the berries out of his hands.

"Feng these are lethal!" I yelled at him as though he was a child playing with matches. He stared at me blankly and popped one into his mouth as though daring me to stop him.

"Only deadly in large doses, tastes quite good actually." He said after a minute laying on his side and inspecting his finger nails inattentively. I glowered at him and picked up a salad from next to him. In it were small purple mushrooms and pieces of what looked to bemulticolored lettuce. I held up a Mushroom.

"I suppose these are poisonous too?" I said dangling it above my nose.

"Actu-" Feng began, but was soon interrupted by a bang. A single silver bullet protruded from the shadows grazing my brown hair. "Run." Feng said, he quickly grabbed my arm and bolted from the picnic spot, leaving everything behind. Only to begin to hover strangely...his arms were flailing and his legs kicking as I just sat watching him then it blew into full on flying.

"W...whats happening?" I yelled up at him, cupping my hands over my mouth to make myself heard. then the same thing began to happen to me. It was an odd sensation, I was scrambling to be in control but it felt impossible. Another bang. now it was just chaos. bullets shot out like rain and the shooter was floating even higher up near us, he had metal armor covering every part of his body except the head, at first glance it looked as though the were nothing but a suit armor, somehow he looked in control, Like he knew gravity was on his side.

I grabbed the nightshade attempting to do something, Anything, to save us. I was going to die. I would never see Diane again. Feng was going to die because I had to barge into his life. Maybe death wouldn't be so bad...I felt an odd sort of sereneness just floating there. I was going to die...no use fighting it. No. I was going to fight it. I was not going to die here!  nobody was! I snapped out of my trance and saw the shooter right in front of me. he had a silver revolver in his gauntlet and his finger on the trigger, he pointed it square onto the middle of my forehead. The bullet went flying. I squeezed my eyelids shut and scrunched up into a ball as if that would ease the pain. Maybe at least Feng wouldn't get hurt, maybe I was enough. Diane, Mom,

"Goodbye."
