"So what time is he getting here?" April asked as she kicked her feet up on the arm of the chair she was slouched in.
"I think he said seven?" Allie said as she snuggled into Kirk.
My house was the usual hang out for the gang, so they were definitely no strangers and treated the place like a second home.
"This is rather interesting don't you think?" Kirk said as he started playing with Allie's hair.
"What do you mean?" I ask as I sat on the little coffee table that was in between the couch and the TV.
"I mean, he wasn't at school at all today, and he's still coming to get you?" Kirk's little fifth grade ideology was that if you don't go to school you shouldn't go to any extra activities that same day you missed. Normally I laugh at it, but he rang true in the sense of I haven't heard from Cooper all day except for about an hour ago where I got a text from him saying just the word 'seven' and a little clock emoji.
"True..." I said as I then moved to sit on the opposite end of the couch Allie and Kirk were on.
"Well what time is it now?" April asked as she swung her feet around off the edge.
"Seven ten." Kirk said after he checked his phone.
"Well... Maybe he got lost?" April said as she sat up strait in the chair.
"I don't know. This is all rather odd..." I said looking down at my beat up toms.
"Hey guys." Emily said as she entered the room.
The room then filled with an abundance of 'heys' and 'what's ups' as she came over and sat on the only other open spot in the living room which was a chair right next to the one April was in.
"Never guess who I ran into out on the front porch." Emily said as she then pointed to the front door which we could barely see because of the stairs which were in the hallway leading to the bonus room and the entry hall.
"Sorry I'm late. I had to clean out my car." Cooper stood there in the hallway and gave a small wave.
Oh god.
Oh god.
Oh god.He had a small smile on his face that made his eyes crinkle in this cute way. His wavy hair was in a crazy mess that made him look like he just woke up, but he was in this neat navy slim fit suit. He also had a navy vest and skinny tie over a light pink button up shirt.
Oh man I'm going to be sick...
He scratched his jaw as I now realize his small amount of dark and even scruff facial hair. He reached to pull at his tie (which I'm now guessing is a casual habit) to loosen it, but as his fingers made contact he realized what he was doing and stopped and shoved his hands in his pockets.
The room then filled with surprised 'heys' and 'what's ups' and a very, very apparent "Holy shit." Which came from yours truly...
"November!" Mother had happen to walk downstairs at that very moment...
Everyone let out a laugh, but the only one I could hear was Coopers.
"Wow! Look at you all nice and neat." Mother said as she put her hands on his shoulders.
"Yeah, I'm not one for neat looks, so this is actually really painful for me." He said giving a fake look of distress.
"Come on Lin, let the boy go." Dad said as mom was having a firm grasp on him.
"Sorry, it's just you're the first boy to ask out little Ember out on a date! Oh I'm so excited! You know for a while we thought she was..." Mom looked around like she was about to say a swear word. "... Gay..." Coopers eyes got wide and I could feel my face turn red in anger and embarrassment. Only reason I'm angry is because it bothers me to think my mothers so homophobic that it would be a bad thing if I was gay...
