"Move those big weapon-y things!" Scorpia yelled to the soldiers on the ground. "Flap those banners! Uh--keep doing whatever it is you're doing, guy I'm pointing at! Now do a different thing! And look sharp, Force Captain's orders!" Mery giggled and shook her head at Scorpia, who smiled back. She turned to Lonnie, Kyle, and Rogelio who were standing next to her, and gasped in happy disbelief. "Catra left me in charge. Me. Can you believe it!?"

"Uh, no. I really can't," Lonnie said, rolling her eyes.

"Ah, me neither." Scorpia spoke in a wistful tone, clearly happy. "She must really trust me..."

"Of course she does!" Mery said encouragingly.

Scorpia's tone switched to a determined one. "I can't let her down. Kyle! Man the parapets!"

"I don't know what those are," Kyle said, in a confident, yet confused tone.

"Then find out!" Kyle ran away, looking for the parapets. " 'Scorpia, you're in charge of the fortress,' she said. 'Even you can't mess this up,; she said." Her smile grew. "Even me. She's thinking about me! Ah..." Her tone turned serious. "Should I get her a 'Thank You' gift? What's her favorite color?" She turned to Kyle, and yelled at him. "KYLE, what are you doing?!"

"Uh, you said- I-" Kyle stuttered, standing less sure on the parapets.

"Go find out Catra's favorite color!" Kyle ran past in the opposite direction. In that time, Katze had come out and walked past the group. She had been on edge a lot recently, and no one knew why. Scorpia frowned, before turning to the other three. "Hey! Hey, hey, hey, hey." Rogelio growled in a reptilian manner and Lonnie grunted as Scorpia put her claws around their shoulders. Mery laughed at the sight of them, and out of the corner of her eye, she thought she saw Katze's ear move. "You guys know Catra. W-what would she like? I need it to be something that says... 'Thank you', but also 'We are soulmates tied together by the beautiful threads of fate..."

"I don't really know her that well," Mery said, shrugging.

"You could ask Katze. You're the only one she tolerates," Lonnie offered. Mery looked at her, confused.

"I thought she liked Scorpia and Catra and Entrapta?"

"Well, she's been really stressed lately and you haven't been around to see it, but she yells at everyone a lot." Mery looked down, a little nervous. "You'll be fine, though! I'm sure of it." Lonnie gently nudged Mery in Katze's direction. Mery looked at Katze, then at Lonnie, and back, before walking over to her.

Lonnie rolled her eyes at the small girl before shoving Scorpia's claw off her. "We should spend less time talking about Catra, and more time talking about the defenses." Scorpia blinked at her, uncomprehendingly, and Lonnie groaned, frustrated. "The reason we're here!"

Scorpia laughed as she pat Lonnie's back, hard enough to throw the latter into a railing, coughing over it. Okay, okay, you don't need to remind me. My wildcat is counting on me, and I won't let her down." She planted a foot on the railing and pointed over it. "For Catra, I will defend this pass with my very life!"

"Wrong pass," Lonnie said through fake coughs.

She blinked before running over to the correct pass. "Yes, this is the pass I will defend with my very life. No reason to worry at all."

Meanwhile, a few minutes earlier, Katze had stalked out, sat down on the wall, and let her legs dangle over the side. Oh, it would be so easy to let herself fall, and see if cats really do land on their feet. But she wasn't about to. Quiet footsteps approached her and Mery sat down next to her. Despite everything, Katze did her best to smile at the smaller girl.
