We walked out of the alley holding hands.
"Do you want to come pick flowers with me?"
"Sure," I said. She led me quickly through the town. Kids were running around laughing and dodging the carts that rolled through the roads.
We stopped outside a house with a thatched roof and tulips in the window boxes.
"Wait here," she said and then she ran inside the house. A few second later she appeared again with a basket. "Okay let's go!"
"Macey!" A woman appeared in the doorway, "where are you off to now?" She sounded exhausted.
I looked down at Macey, "we were gonna go pick flowers for the market," she said.
The woman seemed skeptical, "Alright then, just he home before sun down," Macey dragged me away.
She guided me through town until we reached a beautiful meadow fill with wildflowers. Then she let go of my hand and started running through the fields. Spinning, laughing, and dancing. I chased her. Eventually I caught up and grabbed her. I sun her round and round. Then we collapsed into the tall grass and caught our breath.
I love little kids. Especially kids like Macey, princesses that is. Real princesses, not like me.
People you can only know them quarter of an hour and still become the best of friends.True friendship is not complicated in my opinion, although it is rare. It requires two people to be free and courageous enough to explore each other's private worlds. Selfless enough to see through their eyes. Most people are very attached to this world. A world where I'm a real princess and Macey isn't. I don't like this world very much; I'd much rather live in hers.
I looked around. On a tall cliff I saw the castle I was destined for. It loomed over the town it governed. It had towers, spires, and flags. But overall, it was a smaller castle. Not that I minded. The bigger a castle is the colder it feels.
