Phillipa's POV
I wasn't the only one who was thinking about how to make an impact on kids in the foster system because less than a week later Lin came up to me and told me that Eliza's orphanage she created was still here and called Graham Windham. It was a social service organization that works with foster families and kids all over New York City.
I immediately knew that this was something I could do to make a difference. I wanted to go visit and see this current structure that was a direct relation to my character.
Phone calls were made, and visits were planned. My current state of despondency was replaced with curiosity and excitement.
That weekend I went to visit the structure. It was unreal. I couldn't believe I was standing in front of something that someone all these years ago created. I knew from this moment on more had to be done.
The next few days I got in touch with the leaders of the organization and planned dinner to see if there was any way Hamilton could benefit this organization.
When bringing this idea to Lin, and Tommy they thought this was a phenomenal idea as well.
Dinner went great. We discussed ideas, and ways we could help got thrown around. From there, everything seemed to fall into place.
While everything seemed to be running smoothly, I knew that we were just getting started.
One afternoon I was walking around the city, I passed Central Park High. It looked the same as when I was here just over a month ago. Students were exiting the building in pools of forest green uniforms.
A little confused because the students didn't wear uniforms the week we visited, my eyes scanned the crowd as I looked for one person in particular. Aaron.
I saw her just over a week ago and she looked well, but I always wondered if it was all a show. In my defense, on days I feel like the world has turned its back on me, I still manage to put on a smile and a happy attitude even when that is the last thing I feel like doing.
A few minutes pass and I start to head back home. When walking still surrounded by spots green, I get lightly bumped by the person next to me.
They mumble out a very quiet, but sincere, "sorry" before passing me. Aaron.
I got a quick glimpse of her face as she rounded the corner, but she never took her eyes off the pavement below her. I called out to her, but she never seemed to hear me.
Walking a few more blocks trying to get her attention, I hear a group of girls squeal and call my name. They had just exited a nearby shop and were now asking for pictures and autographs.
My eyes never left Aaron as this commotion seemed to get her attention. She turned around, feet away from me, and waved. It was a small gesture but gave me enough reassurance to know that she was doing okay.
Before I had time to talk, the swarm of girls came up to me with phones in their hands. I had to smile for a picture with strangers while the only stranger I wanted to talk to becomes lost in the sea of people on the streets.
A few moments passed and the group of fans was satisfied. I went on my way down the street a few more blocks to see if I could spot anyone wearing a dark green uniform, but she was gone.
Granted, not completely sure what I would have said if I did manage to get her attention in time, but I guess I'll never know.
I quietly made my way into my apartment to be greeted with the smell of pasta. Pasta? I didn't make pasta?
