Chapter Thirty-Seven

Chapter 37

I woke up to my phone buzzing non-stop. Blinking a few times to get my surroundings I looked at my phone to see who was calling. As I blinked away the blur Dad's picture came into view. Oh no, he must have seen the live. I knew I should have called and explained. 

"Hello?" I played innocent. 

"Riley Maura Horan. You tell me what is going on this second." His voice was stern on the other end and I shrank feeling like I was five again getting in trouble. 

"About?" I was still trying to play the innocent card. 

"Don't you about me! You know what I am talking about! I saw your live on Instagram. You called Louis babe. Which I thought was fine, nothing to it until he stood way too close to you and kissed you! Then an interview of Louis saying you are his girlfriend comes out not even a few hours later? You better start talking young lady!" Now you see where Niall gets it from? 

"Look dad I meant to call alright? I'm sorry. It all just happened so fast."The other line was silent and I took that as for me to keep going. "It's not real, alright?" 

More silence then, "What do you mean it's not real? And what about Josh?" mum chimed in. 

"Hi, mum." I rolled my eyes. At this point, Shannon had woken up and was fully invested in the conversation. I put a finger to my lips and put the phone on speaker.

 "What's this about you and Louis?" Mum asked again. I sighed and started to explain everything about Josh and I breaking up and how Louis and I got into this whole charade. When I was done I held my breath waiting for them to speak.

 "I can't believe this is how we find out...I'm not mad, just disappointed. A phone call of warning would have been nice Riley. Although I am happy you got rid of Josh. I never liked him." Mum said. 

I let out my breath and closed my eyes thankful they were not angry. "Right well, are you having a good time?" Dad asked, changing the topic which I was thankful for.

"Yay! I'm having the best time! I missed being on tour so much, and I am seeing so many new places! It really has been a blast! Made a best friend too! Her name is Shannon, you know the assistant Lou has." I explained, excited to tell them about anything other than my relationship life, let alone what they would do if Liam and I figure everything out. 

"That's great hun. Glad you are having a good time. Just be careful, we love you and will see you soon! Give Niall our best and tell him to call his mother!" Dad said. 

"Bye, love you guys!" I hung up and looked at Shannon. "Well, that wasn't the worst conversation in the world." I laughed. 

Shannon shook her head, "If they had a fit over this, imagine what it's going to be like when they find out about you and Liam." I swear it's like we are connected. 

"Shann, get out of my head I was just thinking that!" I explained hitting her. Shannon laughed before her face went serious again.

"No, but seriously Ri. You need to talk to him, and soon. Before this Louis thing get's out of hand" I looked down at my hands in my lap. "I know Shann but I'm scared. I mean he called me a mistake." I reminded her. 

Shannon laughed, "Yeah, but you also know that it may have just been for show around Louis. There are a lot of questions, ones that only he can answer. Talk to Liam. See what's going on in that brain of his. Who knows, it could turn out better than you hoped." She smiled at me. 

"And if it doesn't?" I questioned further. "Then I'll pull his hair a little harder next time I style it." She laughed and got up screaming about having to pee as she ran for the toilet.
