Chapter 20
I aimlessly walked the halls backstage as the boys sang the last few songs of their set. Tonight was the last night performing here before we got on the bus to go to our next location which is a two-day trip. In other words, I will be stuck on a bus for two days with nowhere to escape. As the song goes, 'we got all night and we're going nowhere'.
I was sad that we only got one night in the Airbnb but Paul says it was so much easier than a hotel that he switched the rest of the hotel stays to Airbnb stays. This ment we could do what we wanted without the worry of a fan or disturbing other guests. We could also eat at the house and not have to worry about the walk back to a room after a fun night at the bar or cameras.
I turned the corner and ran into Shannon who had several bags in her hands full of hairbrushes and hair products. "Sorry, Shannon didn't see you there." I picked up the one brush that fell out.
"All good, no worries," she smiled struggling to hold all the things in her hands.
"Can I help you with that?", I asked.
"Would you? That would be great!" I grabbed a bag out of her hands to lighten the load and walked with her to the boys dressing rooms.
"What are you doing with all this anyway?" I asked as we walked into Zayn's room.
"Lou wanted to clean all the brushes before we hit the road. So I decided to get a head start so there wouldn't be as much to pack and clean later," she smiled as I handed her a hairdryer.
Shannon was small, about the same height as Louis, she had long curly ginger hair and bright green eyes. Her body was covered in freckles from head to toe and there was a slight bounce in her step when she walked. She had been working with Lou for the past year and only now was allowed on tour to help. She was around the same age as the rest of us and though I only met her a few brief times, she was the sweetest thing you could ever meet.
As we went from room to room picking up after the boys, I started to get warm and decided to pull my hair up into a bun. "Wow! Who gave you those love?", Shannon asked looking at the spots on my neck.
"Oh um," I reached to let my hair back down in a panic when Shannon stopped me.
"Seeing the look on your face means I wasn't supposed to notice. Leave your hair in a bun and come with me. I can help you cover that but only if I get the story that comes with it." She smiled gesturing to follow her into Niall's dressing room.
I sighed knowing there was no way out of explaining this and followed her.
We walked in and she pointed to the chair, "Have a seat. I'll be right back with the supplies."
She walked over to a basket and took Niall's makeup they use on him for interviews out. "You and Niall have a similar skin tone because you are siblings so this should work fine," she said pulling a bottle and brush out.
She instructed me to lift my chin so she could apply the makeup to each spot that peeked out.
"So tell me the story," Shannon said as she worked.
"Well," I chuckled, "Louis and I like to mess around sometimes, it's all fun and games." I looked at her out of the corner of my eye as she nodded not taking her eyes off what she was doing.
"Well I-I guess the game got a little too heated or m-maybe it was because we both felt lonely that night. But one thing led to another until we were in a full makeout session." I looked at her hoping my little white lie would pull through.
Shannon stopped what she was doing and looked at me, "Riley, I know for a fact that is a crap answer, but only because I know the boys like the back of my hand. Not to mention I have had to cover Louis's lovebites on another person before and these are not his. Lucky for you I don't ask questions and know if you are lying it must be for a good reason."
