Eva waited till Adam was done dressing up. He grabbed her left hand with his right hand as they made their way out of the room, interlacing their fingers. Eva's heart swelled as she smiled at him affectionately.

Something had changed. Something she couldn't put her fingers, but she felt like Adam was putting in some effort, even if she could still sense that bit of uncertainty about him.

Forte music assailed their ears immediately they began making their way down the stairs, making Eva cringe. Trust June to host a party where people with ear problems could never attend.

Raul was doing a body shot on a girl wearing a tank top and lying on a table that hadn't been there an hour ago, his tongue licking through her navel, then travelling upwards until he reached her mouth and took the slice of apple from between her teeth, using the opportunity to kiss her.

Eva looked towards June and had to shake her head. While everyone was cheering, she looked like she was going to be sick. She still didn't understand why June refused to accept her feelings for the guy.

"Okay, enough of the body shots. Let's play something else." Ana, one of their friends, shouted over the cheers and loud music. "What about truth or dare?"

"Truth or dare? What are we? Fifteen?" A guy said, earning some chuckles from a few others.

"Zach, I never expected you to say something sensible, and you didn't." She said the last words with vigour. Some of the people around booed at Zach. There had to be about 40 people at the party.

"Truth or dare, it is." June announced, earning a few groans and some cheers.

"No. I wanted to do a body shot on you." Adam pouted his lips in annoyance.

Eva pecked him quickly with her own pouted lips, and they went to sit down beside each other on the floor, lining up with the others to form a circle in the large living room space. The music was turned off then.

"What are the rules?" Someone asked.

"No daring people to do extremely kinky stuff." Ana spoke. "And whoever fails to do as asked or to tell the truth pays ten dollars to the one who asked the question."

"What the fuck? Ten dollars for this stupid game?" Zach asked incredulous.

"The last party I went, the price was twenty dollars." Ana glared at him. "Stop embarrassing yourself, Zach. It's not like we're demanding hundred dollars or something."

"Fine, whatever." Zach scowled.

"Good, so everyone gets a turn with the question." Ana said. Eva could see June glaring at her, probably because she was acting as if she was the host. "I'll go first."

When her eyes settled on Zach, probably no one was surprised. "Zach, truth or dare?"

Zach glared at her, huffing before answering. "Truth."

"What were you doing last night?"

For a moment, Zach's jaw tensed, but it was so brief that Eva wondered whether she'd misread his demeanor.

"I was with my mum. My girlfriend can testify to that." He leaned to his side and kissed a girl named Carry on his right only to pull back to find her frowning at him.

"Zach, you visited your mum two days ago. Not last night."

Zach tensed. "Oh, I... I went there yesterday too. It... It must have..."

"It's okay, Zach." Carry was smiling reassuringly, but her eyes were telling a different tale. They were going to talk about this later on. Zach visibly swallowed.
