—Lily's POV—
'So, you're coming right?' asks Violet, my bestfriend, chucking a magazine in my direction to get my attention.
'Huh?' I obviously zoned out.
We are currently having a girls' night sitting on my rather comfortable couch eating tubs of the much cherished strawberry ice-cream and watching Pitch Perfect.
Perfect. What a lovely word, yet so misleading. Everyone wants that perfection but in reality everything is so flawed.
I love days like this when I actually get to enjoy my free-time and not stand in my mom's fashion boutique, modelling for the next edition of TeenVogue or something. Yeah, my mom's probably one of the most accomplished fashion designers in the world. Any other girl my age would love to be in my place modelling and posing beautifully; I would kill for some genuine free-time to spend with my friends. I just find all the fashion stuff fake.
Oh and by friends, I mean two friends. Violet and Penelope are my only true friends in the world, probably because of my shy nature and as for the other people I hang out with, well, they only adore my fashion background and aspire only to crawl their way to fame, using me. As if I'm the ladder to being the future 'It-girl'.
Vi and Penny are genuine though and have truly stuck by me everytime. Vi, I've known since we were toddlers, we used to be neighbours and since then became the best of friend: inseparable. A few years later they moved to the other side of town but our friendship only strengthened. Penny is a more recent addition to Richmond High School. She came in sophomore year and used to be one of those typical, anti-social and unpopular kids and no one really cared for her. The real change happened when these guys were harassing Vi and Penny decided to fight them off. Thats where our friendship started and since then we've just become closer over time.
At home, I just feel so isolated and lonely. I have my mom who is a top fashion designer, too busy to properly notice me, but I guess she's an alright mother when she tries. My dad is the multi-billionaire owner of a huge hotel business and hardly ever at home. I guess the only person I can truly confide in apart from my friends is Eric, my twin brother. Although we may be totally different since he is the popular jock and I am the unnoticed nerd, I can proudly say we do have our brother-sister moments.
'Lils! You're zoning out again!' Penelope chucks a cushion this time.
'Are you coming on the holiday?!' Vi pipes in.
'Huh?'
Holiday?
Ok so this is The Shy and The Popular which is a new book by me. I want the prologue to give a bit of background knowledge on Lily's life, so hope that happened. Further chapters will be longer!
A picture of LILY up there!
How was it? Comment!
Thanks,
Aria~
