Are we...partners? [ inspector Zenigata X Detective reader!]

Chapter two: The heist

The next couple of week's went as usual, until one day out of the blue, you are called to investigate a crime scene of no other than Lupin  the 3rd.

After arriving to the jewelry where the incident happened, you already notice that Zenigata is there too, you walk towards him and say.

-" Did you find anything yet?"

-" hm? no, we didn't, there were Witnesses that told us that Lupin entered the jewelry before throwing smoke bombs and took everything"

-" i see..i will need to ask you some questions Inspector Zenigata "

-" Why that? "

-" To learn more about Lupin, After all you are trying to catch him for years now, for if i may say you should have more information about him then most of people "

-" Couldn't you just ask that at the office ?"

-" Well yes but, you looked grumpy enough."

-" Excuse me-"

-" you heard me loud and clear Inspector, but nevermind, can we talk about it somewhere more..private?"

-" If we must so, i know a place were we wont be disturbed."

-" alright Inspector "

You both end up walking together, Walking with this tall man really makes you feel small, but weirdly safe?, you have no idea where he is taking you until you see him enter a small restaurant, you domt havr a choice, you followed him amd sat down at a small table im the corner.

-" Why there..of all places?"

-" I like it here plus its lunch time "

-" O..kay?"

-" So..what did you want to ask?"

-" oh yes yes! first of all i've been wondering..how come you never were able to catch him? i mean not that you've never been able to catch him but he always seemed to escape so easily"

-" well...i suppose you already know that he is a mastermind at this, everything is like a game to him even it means risking his life to it..and i guess i just weren't good enough to catch him once and for all since he always escape "

-" Are you kidding?!"

He looked at you, Surprised.

-" What?"

-" You of all people, you have proven so many times that you were extremely competent at your jop! even if you never could permanently  captured Lupin, You have shown so much potential over the year's, i've never tought i'd work with someone so competent in all my career as a detective."

He stays silent, his eyes were looking at you in confusion, as if he had ever heard anyone complimenting his hard work and persistence, you cleared your voice and finally decided to break the silence.

-" I know that we did not start on a good basis, But i seriously think if we work this together, we could finally catch him for good inspector, what do you think?"

-"..Yeah, i guess having someone to help doesn't sound so bad..Detective Y/n"

He let go of a soft grin and you can't help it but smile in return.

-" alright since we are settled, i should go back to the office."

-" Wait now? aren't you going to eat something first?"

-" I alredy got a lunch box, plus i still got a lot of research to do. "

-" Oh alright i see..hey "

-" yes?"

-" Thank you..for the things you said..it was really nice"

He said a littel embarrassed, you responded softly with a kind tone.

-" Don't mention it Inspector "

-" Since we are going to work together you can drop the formalities you know, just call me Koichi"

-" Alright..Koichi, Just call me Y/n then..i should be going i think "

-" O..of course! see you at the office "

-" See you later...Koichi "

... A few Hours later.....

You were at your office, working and enjoying a nice piece of cake, until you hear someome knocking at the door.

-" Entrez ."

You said in french, Until you see Zenigata entering to your office.

-" Hey i just came to give you some reports, i suppose it could help you for your research."

-" Why Thank you, you can put it on the desk i'll get a look at it tonight. "

-" Your welcome. "

He said while putting down the paperwork.

-" is there anything i can help you with detec- i mean..Y/n."

-" Not really, i'm going to call it a day anyway so. "

-" want me to accompany you?"

-" Oh? and why that?"

He took a brief moment to think as if himself didn't know why he wanted to come with you.

-" W..well, its getting dark, and it's not safe for a Lady to go alone like tha- Not that im saying that you can't  defend yourself!"

You look at him talking and all flustered Like that, you can't help but compare him to a teddy bear, You softly smile and pack up your work.

-" its nice of you to care about my safety, and i'll accept gladly your company. "

-" G..good,  ready to go?"

-" Ready to go."

You both end up walking together again, but this time, the atmosphere seemed warmer and better, you kept making small talks until you finally arrived to your hotel you gently welcomed him for accompanying you, until finally you went back to your hotel room.
