Reborn Into a New Me

Chapter 3

Wait.. Why can't I move?..
Am I dead?..
I can't see anything..
So dark..
Wait that light.. it's coming closer..
Too bright..

~*NIGHT TIME*~

"Oh my little girl, you really are so pretty like your mother" A man's voice said while gently caressing a newborn baby.

"Otosan!(Dad) Let me see my little sis too!" A boy's voice can be heard as well.

"Not fair! Let me see my imouto(little sis) too!" This time a girl's voice I have heard.

"Now now, be gentle with her." And now a it's a woman's gentle voice saying while carrying me gently.

Wait! Where am I? Didn't I die already?

I can't even speak! Oh wait, am I a baby?

Unfamiliar voices ringing into my ear. My eyes slowly flutter only to see what I thought shouldn't exist.

What world did I ended up to!?

I look at the those unfamiliar faces that are staring down at me. A man,woman, girl and a boy? Wait, it seems like they're my family in this life.

Does that mean I've been reborn!?

I thought it only works on the novels that I've read. Never thought that it could be true too. As I take a closer look at them, I could see something that I can't believe with my own eyes.

Ears? Tails? Are those even real? I kept on staring at them until the girl reaches out to my hand and gently shake it.

I wonder who she and the boy is, are they my siblings? And are the man and woman my parents?

I'm in confusion now, well it's fine though. I'll get to know the details by listening to them.

"Okaasan, she has such lovely pair of beautiful eyes!" I believe she is my older sister.

"I wanna know what Okaasan named her, can you tell us please?" And I believe it's my older brother this time who asked our mom now.

Mom smiled and look at me. "Rin Yasuko, the third daughter of the Yasuko Kitsune Clan" I think my jaw is about to drop when I heard that. So that means this is all real!? Never knew that I would end up in the world of yōkai (supernatural monsters and spirits in Japanese folklore).

I look up a bit to see my mom's face and was in a trance. She had beautiful flawless facial feature and at the same I can still see those elegant ears and tails of hers.

I think I've gone insane but I think it really is real now. I could even see their ears flicker with excitement as they stare at me.

"Hi there imouto, I'm Emi Yasuko. You're older sister." Onee-chan(older sis) said with a gentle smile on her face that made me as a child smile and laugh a bit.

"No fair! She smiled at you and not me." I heard the boy's voice telling onee-chan, so I look at him.

"Imouto is so cutee! The name's Kyuu Yasuko, your awesome older brother" Onii-chan(older brother) said with a proud smile.

I might do a face palm now if I'm not a baby anyway.

I laugh a bit for him to feel delighted that I got to know him. I soon slowly turn over to my father I think?

"She looks so cute and also a beauty." Otosan said while caressing once again my head gently.

After a moments of that, they talk for awhile with me here being carried by mom then suddenly I yawn making me feel sleepy. So they each slowly went out of the room and mom softly hum a song and gently cradled me to sleep..

~*NEXT DAY*~
I slowly woke up from my sleep and look at my surroundings. I think I'm in a crib or something. Yet I still can't believe this is real, I've read about them in my previous life but never thought that it really exist.

Speaking of my previous life, I wonder how Emilia is right now.. I hope she won't have a fight with her sis when she finds out that she's the one who hurt her and pushed me on the rooftop. Not only that, I hope mom and dad are doing fine too.

Still tho, this would be a great new start for a new me. I got the feeling that I would have an exciting experience in this life.

*Knock knock knock*

I heard someone knocking at the door and also heard it slide open. I was about to cry when I saw that it was only my mom.

"Morning my little one, let's get you freshen up." Mom said with a smile as she then changes my clothes and all then feeds me with a bottle of milk.

After that, she carried me up that gave me the chance to look around.

It looks like a traditional/modern house like in Japan I see.

I didn't know that it was snowing at the same time outside. That's great then, I love cold weather hehe.

As we went out, I could see my siblings playing outside with snow. I think they're having a snowball fight, must be fun I guess.

"Your dad is out of town. Defeating evil ayakashi who would want to hurt anyone." Mom suddenly said to me and I look up at her a bit confuse.

"You know, yōkai may be also called ayakashi but we only use it for the evil ones, little Rin." She continued as I gave a blink of an eye signaling her that I understand.

That really makes sense, no wonder some say that ayakashi and yōkai are the same. But there are still quite a difference for this world.

My life here wouldn't be bad I guess, but my attitude of being cold and unapproachable is still in tact hehe. I can't help it, I only show my warm side to those who I deeply care about so much.

Now I feel sleepy again.. I guess this is how it is of being a baby.. I then slowly fall asleep on my mother's arms again.. A new life and a new me indeed..
