Without thinking I burst into his room. They stare at me like two deer caught in headlights.
"How much did you hear?"
"Enough! I can't believe you like Jess! Why didn't you tell me!?"
"Cause I knew you'd do this!"
"What am I doing?" I ask crossing my arms over my chest.
"I can see the wheels turning in that little brain of yours!"
"Ew no I don't picture you dating anyone ever. Buttt if you were to date someone Jess would be totally awesome, even if that's disgusting!"
"Stop! I can't stand it when you do that!"
"Well be quieter next time! I came to tell you Jess was coming over."
"Great" he sighs.
"What? Now you don't want to see your future girlfriend?"
"She doesn't even like me like that. She had a boyfriend who she loved! Well still loves."
"Did she even tell you why they broke up?"
"No"
"Of course" I say rolling my eyes.
"Why did they?"
"Well I'm not going to tell you. That's not my place"
"Ugh well then I'll just ask her when she gets here."
"No don't do it today. She needs time to heal a little."
"She's right" Dylan pipes in.
"I'm always right" I smile. Dylan nudges me playfully.
"Sureee" he smiles back at me, holding my gaze.
"Just like I was right when I said to trust me"
He scrunches his nose. "That's a sore spot"
I laugh and place my hands on his waist pulling him close to me.
"Don't worry, you can make it up to me."
"Oh really?" He smirks.
"Ew stop please. I'm standing right here" Jake says pretending to gag.
"Sorry" I laugh taking a step away from Dylan.
"Well she should be here soon so you might as well leave."
"Jeez, I'll go. Sorry for intruding"
"Whatever."
I give Dylan a kiss on the cheek before heading back to my room. A couple minutes later the doorbell rings. I rush down the stairs and open it, but instead of Jess, Travis stands in the doorway.
"Hey Rose! Is Jake here?"
"Yeah he's in his room with Dylan."
"Okay cool" he says walking in and heading upstairs. I'm about to shut the door when Jess pulls into the driveway. She rushes out of the car and runs to me, giving me a big bear hug.
"Let's not talk about it, okay? We can just go downstairs, put on a movie, and eat tons of Ben and jerry's ice cream that Rob just stocked up on" I say leading her to the basement. She sits on the couch with a pint of chocolate fudge brownie as I walk over to the DVD collection. "What would you like to watch?"
"Dear John"
"But that's-"
"I know. Just put it on."
"Okay"
Placing the movie in the DVD player, I grab my own pint of ice cream and sit down next to her. We watch the movie in silence. Luckily Jake, Dylan, and Travis didn't come down the whole time.
