Chapter 12. "I bet everything on you." - PJH

He closed the door behind Azuki's back and sat on the bed. His face was still blushing and frowning. Azuki came over and sat on the chair in front of him. "Hey, you should get used to it by now don't you think?"
Asahi sighed, replying: "Yeah, I guess I should." He started to calm down, turned around and caught a glimpse of Azuki's digital drawing on her iPad. He held it up and swiped to see her drawings of him, saying calmly: "Hmm? These are not bad? But I think I look better? Right?"
They both laughed and Azuki stood up and plopped on the bed next to Asahi, ruffling his white blonde hair: "Of course you look better, no drawing can look as good as you." "That's right!" Asahi made a proud duck face and laughed with Azuki.
"But your skills are improving so much, I feel so left behind." He pouted. Azuki joked: "Haha, I didn't go to Art school to draw fan-art tho! Shame on me!" which made Asahi laughed as well. He put down the iPad and turned to face Azuki . He looked her in the eyes and said casually: "You're so beautiful. Not just your eyes... everything about you."
Azuki closed her eyes and furrowed her brows as she felt the embarrassment hitting and her heartbeat racing. She let out a sigh and giggled while falling forward, resting her face on Asahi's shoulder and hugging him. Asahi could only hear her mumbling near his collar bone: "Are you malfunctioning again?"
Asahi laughed and shyly said: "Even I don't know myself any more. I keep thinking out loud, like out there before!" Holding Azuki, he leaned backward and plopped on the bed with Azuki still in his arms. "What have you done to me?" - He whispered. Azuki lifted her head to see Asahi covering his eyes with one hand.
Her heart was beating so fast. She touched his sun bracelet and grabbed Asahi's wrist to lift it up. He opened his eyes and looked at hers. She said: "The same thing you're doing to me." And she leaned in to kiss him. Asahi was taken aback, but he quickly removed his wrist from her grasp and intertwined his fingers with hers. He returned her kiss passionately, ran his hand through her hair, keeping her head there to extend their kiss. But Azuki was short of breath and let out a restrained sigh and frowned. Asahi softly broke the kiss and looked at her, letting her catch her breath, trying to hide his amusement with a poker face.
But Azuki could tell. She glared at him and said in a scary tone: "Are you messing with me?" She sat up straight and pointed her finger at Asahi, who burst out laughing adorably. She yelled at him, which to Asahi just sounded like a cute kid squealing: "Stop ittt!" And she looked at him, pouting like a kid. Asahi smiled adoringly. He took her hand, pulled her towards him lightly so that she lied down next to him. He hugged her tight, burying his face into the nook of her neck. He softly whispered his warm breath into her collar bone: "I'm sorry, but you were too cute to handle... Now lay still, let me listen to your heart." Azuki's heart had been rushing and she knew she couldn't hide it from Asahi. But Asahi was pleasantly happy, his smile growing as he knew how Azuki felt. He looked at her with a sleepy smile and gently planted a kiss on her forehead.
Azuki felt the world stopping for a while and everything just felt so... content. She felt at ease and gazed at Asahi's face closely. Asahi couldn't hide his happy glow, even though his eyes were wearily half closed. Azuki traced his jawline to his chin with her finger, amazed at the beautiful reality in front of her. Then with all of her sincerity, she softly whispered: "I will always stay by your side."
Asahi gazed silently at Azuki for a long while. He whispered, in the most gentle and sincere tone ever:
"I love you."
Azuki was taken aback, she just looked at Asahi, her face was blushing so hard and her heart couldn't remain calm. Asahi smiled at her and then he wearily closed his eyes. Azuki pulled the blanket up to tuck Asahi in comfortably and snuggled up next to him. His arm naturally found its way to hold her tight. Staring at his gorgeous facial features, she smiled and softly sang for him a lullaby:
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy, when skies are gray
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away..."
Asahi looked at Azuki gently whispered with a smile. "Good night, my moon." Azuki whispered back: "Sweet dream..." Then they both fell asleep, snuggling up to each other, sharing the same heartbeat.
