As I rushed through the crowds on my way to Mount Olympus Hospital, I checked my watch.

“Eighteen minutes,” I muttered to myself. “Enough time.”

I entered into the gleaming lobby - Annabeth really had done an amazing job of designing everything - and walked quickly to the reception desk.

“Jason Grace - Here to see Piper McLean,” I said to the receptionist, a college-age demigod. She had really light brown hair and light blue eyes.

“Right...that would be…..third floor, fifth door to the right.” The receptionist said, smiling.

I thanked her and pushed the elevator UP button. When it came I stepped in, and pushed the button for the third floor.

Once the ride was over, I walked, counting doors, until I came to a door reading: 35B.

I knocked gently and walked in. Piper looked up. Her face had a beautiful ruggedness to it. Even though the first three months of our relationship had been a trick of the mist - thanks, Juno - Piper has really become my equal. I love her! The fact that she’s a daughter of the love goddess makes it only a tiny bit terrifying. One wrong move and BAM! Aphrodite will be on your tail.

“Jason!” Piper sounded muffled. Figures. The huge white brace around her neck might have had something to do with it.

“Pipes, I can’t believe you went face to face with a dalek,” I said, sitting on the edge of her bed.

“At least I didn’t get exterminated,” Piper said, smiling.

“Not funny. A broken neck is pretty bad.” I leaned down to kiss her forehead.

  “So….what’s everyone doing?” Piper asked.

“Well, we went to this purple planet to get a liquid….I think it was called Innia or something, to stop the daleks.”

“And how does that stop them?”

“I’m pretty sure you pour it on them or something...not exactly sure what the after effect is. But how are you doing?”

“Oh, you know...okay. It hurts, but the ambrosia is helping.” Piper smiled. “As good as I can be with a broken neck.”

“I wonder if you can charmspeak a dalek?” I asked, referencing Piper’s charmspeak abilities.

“Uh- I don’t think so. Tried that,” Piper replied with a small, mischievous smile.

“Really?” I grinned. This was one reason why I liked Piper so much. She wasn’t afraid (well, she didn’t show it) of trial and error tactics. Piper and I talked for a while longer, discussing the popular subject of world destruction, until Piper glanced up at the clock, grabbed my arm, and said, “It’s been twenty minutes. You should probably go!” I nodded reluctantly.

“I love you,” I said to Piper. She smiled widely, her teeth flashing white.

“You too. Go...and try to stay alive, okay?”

“Okay. I promise.” I squeezed Piper’s hand one last time and walked out of her room, rode down the elevator, and, rushing now, out of the hospital.
