THIS IS GREAT. JUST GREAT. THANK THE GODS I NEVER PANIC OR THIS MIGHT TURN OUT BADLY.

I took a few deep breaths to center myself. Oh who am I f*cking kidding? I had to turn my brain on and off for a second to restart all helpful functions.

It helped.

A little.

What was unhelpful was a certain someone having a 'my brain is melting like butter in a microwave' moment right next to me.

We are fucked. Hopelessly fucked. We are so fucked that I can't even see past the pain and pleasure of my first fucking, but I must try. So bear with me as I try to unfuck the current situation.

I scanned the nearest aisles for ideas. This gas station was huge. There were multiple exits, check out registers and an attached fast food joint on the far left side, but I would have to pass the doors to get there so that was out. There were two main exits that I could see, the front one and one in the fast food place.

I could also see a sign for the bathrooms ahead of me with a glowing exit sign just below it. I suddenly had a very clear game plan in my head but, I needed cooperation from the stranger before me.

I looked up at the man that I now had to put my trust into. Our freedom and, not to mention, our lives were at stake, but I didn't have a choice. He looked normal enough; short dark brown hair, dark green eyes and plain features. He was a few inches taller than Sy. It wouldn't be hard for her to hide behind him. His clothes were also average, nothing that would attract the eye. The man himself wasn't particularly intimidating, but I hadn't seen him angry yet. I didn't even know what he was exactly. Right now that doesn't matter though, what matters is getting out of here and finding someplace safe.

"You want her right?," he looked a little shocked but my mouth was already running faster than a runaway train and once I started I only stopped when I got what I wanted.

I had to use Sy. It pained me, but it was my only leverage against him and whoever was with him."If you want her, you can have her, but first you have to help us escape them," I waved a hand frantically at the window above our heads.

"Those guys out there are a part of a cult-like town where nobody is allowed to leave. Except that we did and now they're hunting us. I know how to get us out of here but I need your cooperation k'?," he stood there looking down at me like his ears were stuffed with wax. Maybe I was talking a little too fast?

"Ok,"He said slowly. A change came over his features too, like he was just starting to process the crazy bit of info I just threw his way. Not like I could blame him or anything, if I were in his position I would see a couple of runaway teens looking for trouble. The only reason I even considered putting our lives in his hands was 1. I had no choice, and 2. Whatever he had shared with Sy was intense. It was hard to explain what I had seen pass between them, but hopefully that bond was strong enough to get us out of here.

Before he could talk anymore and slow us down I shared his part of the plan."Take her to your car, or one of your cars, but wait until they follow me out the back. Hide her in the backseat, and drive someplace close to one of the exits in the parking lot. Then take my truck-," I dug the keys out of my pockets quickly and chucked them up at him. He caught them easily in one hand.

-and....," wait a minute. Fast reflexes? Constant sniffing? Soulmates? Shit. I'm dealing with a werewolf aren't I? I took a moment to evaluate all the possible ways that trusting him could still get us killed. I knew vaguely of the different supernatural species that were most common in the U.S. Werewolves and vampires being two of the highest, but I never imagined meeting one for the first time like this. My father used to warn me to watch out for them. He told me that, even though most weren't violent to normal humans, people like him and me were safer steering clear of them.
