Perched upon the balcony of an L-Corp office was Supergirl. She leaned over the railing as silent tears rolled down her face. She thought of Lena and her actions before. She cried thinking she just ruined the best friendship that she ever had. The sounds of the city were drowned out to her as she just listened to one person in particular who was fast approaching.
Lena...
Lena was all she could focus on...
The young CEO bursts through her office doors. Kara knew it was her without even turning around to see her. She knows the sound of her heartbeat and the sound that her heels make on the ground as she walks.
Lena walks through her office not even glancing at her balcony. She kicks off her heels, sits her things down, and goes straight for the liquor cabinet. Out comes a bottle of gin and two glasses that are placed down on the table.
Lena starts to pour one glass and with her back to the door she addresses Supergirl, "Are you just gonna stand there all night, or are you going to come inside?"
Supergirl turns around and opens the door, "But, h-how did you know I was there? You didn't even turn around."
"You didn't either," Lena glances at the caped crusader as she walks towards her.
Supergirl just rolls her eyes at this casual comment as she grabs the drink that Lena is offering her. This was a common occurrence that the two had. Weekly visits from Supergirl were something Lena always looked forward to. Without a doubt, Supergirl would always be there waiting on Lena if she wasn't already couped up in her office.
"Man, I really wish I could get drunk," Supergirl says as she swishes the ice and alcohol around in the glass with a sour face. "You wouldn't happen to have anything up to alien standards in your liquor cabinet would you, Miss Luthor?"
Lena shook her head in dismay and then raised an eyebrow at her, "Rough week?"
"More like a rough day," Supergirl said looking at the floor not making eye contact with Lena.
Lena shook her head in agreement, "Same here," she said as she took a long swig from her glass.
The two sat in silence and drank together. Neither of them was too sure what to say to the other. Lena wasn't sure to bring up her suspicions of Supergirl's real identity. Supergirl wasn't sure whether or not to tell Lena about her real identity and apologize to her.
Having enough of the silence, Lena looked up at Supergirl who was staring at her boots, and said a singular word. Depending on the reaction, Lena would know if her best friend really was Supergirl.
"Kara," Lena spoke her name so softly and quietly that it was barely audible to the human ear. Lena turned her eyes to Supergirl to see if she provoked a reaction as she said the name. The relaxed yet sorrowful face that the hero had while she sat across from her confidant changed if only for a brief second; it turned to a sheer look of panic and then to a laden look that wasn't enough to fool Lena. Although she wasn't going to mention it right then, Lena noticed all of this. Her sudden shift in tone and demeanor happened after Lena whispered her best friend's name. It was evident to Lena that she just figured out the lie of ages. Yet, she wasn't angry, only intrigued at why Kara had kept her full self hidden from her.
Kara took a millisecond to process how she wanted to feel right now and she decided that all she wanted was Lena to know her, all of her. She also craved the feeling and intensity of the kryptonite that she felt earlier in the night.
As Supergirl took a long swig from her glass she turned towards Lena and away from her red, knee-high boots. She sighed and looked her in the eyes. This intimidated Lena to have such a powerful being look her dead in the eyes. All her confidence and high ground that she felt when she had whispered left her as soon as their eyes locked. Lena gulped and Supergirl held eye contact until she finished her drink. The glass was then discarded on the table.
Supergirl then stood up, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath. Lena watched her not knowing what was going to happen. The Super tilted her head slightly up and when her eyelids fluttered open she looked down at the CEO with such vigor that made Lena want to succumb to her every word.
"Lena, where is the necklace?"
"I-I don't know what you are talking about."
"Come on, don't play dumb, Miss Luthor. You know exactly what I am talking about." Supergirl took a step to the side bringing her ever so closer to Lena as she was now at the end of the glass coffee table.
"Supergirl, I seriously have no idea what you are talking about," Lena stated her claim not wanting to give in. She wanted a reaction out of Supergirl but this is not what she was expecting.
Slightly annoyed, Supergirl placed both her palms down on the table and studied Lena's face trying to read her. Meanwhile, Lena began to feel her face heat up as Supergirl was leaning forward and they were only inches apart. She took a split second to avert eye contact and noticed the outline of the other woman's body. She was never this close to her when she was in her suit, but damn, did that super suit hug every curve and muscle of her body. Lena's heart began to race and Supergirl listened and smirked.
The Luthor watched every move that the Super made, not able to take her eyes off of her. Supergirl stood back up and walked slowly around the couch that Lena sat on. Once she was around to the back she leaned in close enough to where Lena could feel her breath on her neck.
"Lena," Supergirl breathed and Lena craned her neck up closer to the Super's lips as she spoke, "you and I both know that I could find the necklace with a quick scan of the room. But, I want you to tell me where it is."
With a few quick breaths, Lena managed to make herself stand and walk over to where she had sat down her purse. She slowly stuck her hand into the bag and pulled out a slender box. She then walked back over to Supergirl and stuck out the box to hand it to her.
"Here is it," Lena let out a shaky breath as Supergirl wrapped her hand around the box. She took it and removed the lid. As supergirl held the chain up in the air she stared at the jewels and smirked. The effects of the kryptonite hit her all at once. Lena watched as the veins in Supergirl's hands and neck seemed to glow for a split second and her eyes held the reflection of the shining rock. Lena saw as her eyes like a wave washed over her normally blue color with a mix of red and pink. Supergirl closed her eyes and took a sharp inhale as she felt the kryptonite rush through her body.
