This hospital visit was the worst. Not only did my parents not get the call to come get me since they were asleep, but my nurse hated me.

"Demise."

"Yes?"

"This hurts."

"It should. You flew through a car window and busted your head open. You also broke your legs, your rib, and your nose...oh and you've got one hell of a concussion."

Who is this? I opened myself eyes and stared at the blurry man in front of me. He doesn't sound like Demise.

"Who...who are you?" I tried to rub my eyes and clear my vision but I still couldn't see him. "You're blurry."

"No one important." He placed a hand on my chest and trained his fingers down my abdomen.

I was kidnapped when I was young. The police found me in a ditch on the side of the road and I wouldn't talk to anyone for over a year. I won't say what the man did to me because it isn't hard to guess.

I try not to remember the month I was missing. It went by so slow yet in a complete blur of motion and terror. I was so scared that I couldn't process what happened.

I still haven't processed what happened.

"What's your name?"

"Who's Demise?" He asked.

"My friend. He was with me in the accident."

"I see. Then there's no reason we can't get along." He slid his hand beneath whatever I was wearing, making me flinch. I tried to sit up but due to the pain in my body, I couldn't.

"Hey...stop touching me."

He pressed his nails into my thigh, dragging them up to my stomach. "I have a request from you, Azra."

My eyes shot open so wide that they began to water. Whoever this man was clearly knew my father. He's the only one in the entire fucking world who called me that. And this didn't sound like my dad at all.

He smiled at my reaction. "You're going to tell me where you're staying. Or I'll kill you."

My vision cleared a bit, but I didn't want to look at the man touching me. He was scaring me and I wanted to run away, I just couldn't.

"That won't be necessary." Demise stepped in and grabbed his wrist, yanking his hand away from me and twisting it at an inhuman ankle. It broke with a loud crack, which made me flinch again. "If you want him to do as you say, you'll have to do better than threatening his own life. His last words before he flew out of my car prove that. Now....leave or I'll break every bone I can manage and tear you limb from limb. Right here in front of him."

"You won't."

"If I find a single mark on him that you left, I'll kill you and your darling wife. Understand?"

The man stepped back to me and placed his uninjured hand on my cheek. "It was good to see you again, Azra."

He left me alone with Demise, who was staring blankly at me.

"Who was that?" I asked softly.

He lifted my hospital gown, his gaze growing deeper with hatred when he saw the scratch marks across me. "He's a dead man."

"Demise!" I quickly shoved his hands away and pulled it back down. "Ow..." it really hurt to move, but if I could push Demise away, why couldn't I do it to the other guy? Did he really scare me that badly?

"He's going to die. Him and his pathetic family." He muttered to himself but I heard it and grabbed his hand, leaving my fingers between his.

"Hey....don't hurt anybody. I'm fine. It's just a scratch."

His deep breath echoed in my head, which made my ears ring. The lights in the room were starting to make me dizzy and it felt like I couldn't breathe. "You're shaking, Azriel." He locked eyes with me. "That man knows you, doesn't he?"

"I couldn't pinpoint who he was..."

"I see..."

"How did you know he's married?"

"He had a ring on his finger and his wallet has a pretty recent photo of him and a woman wearing a matching ring. I just took a guess."

"His wallet."

"Yeah." He tossed it to me. "Merry Christmas, there's about eleven hundred in there."

I looked through his wallet and found his driver's license, staring at the photo and name. Noah Foster....where have I heard that?

I tried to dig through my mind, eventually finding a name that matched.

Blindfolded even though I sat in the dark, I felt my stomach churn. Heavy footsteps made their way toward me, a man lifting my chin with two fingers. "Who are you?"

He caressed my jawline. "Call me Noah."

I threw the wallet away from me as fast as I could, legs trembling. "Get me out of this hospital."

"Is everything okay?"

"Tell them they have to let me leave!"

"He won't come back as long as I'm here. He wants to catch me alone with my guard down."

"I don't want to be here, Demise." I shook my head, forcing myself to sit up. "Please take me home."
