After a few weeks, Amanda's body was taken to be buried and we were left alone to talk amongst ourselves. We mostly just sat around playing games to pass the time.

"I'm kinda pissed about all of this. He totally just threw away 18 years worth of trust." I laid down on the cold floor, fidgeting with the chains around my ankle to try and pull my foot out of them. My ankle is bruised and bleeding by now but I've decided that it's best to keep trying until I completely give up.

I heard them hit the floor, my foot being freed within a second. I immediately sat up and stared at it in shock. "How did I-"

"You must have loosened them by always fidgeting with them." Azriel cocked his head at me. "I'm impressed."

"I'll attack him when he comes back." I stood up and jiggled the door handle to check if it was locked. It was. "If I can make him think somethings wrong then he won't expect it."

"You have nothing to attack him with. I would suggest breaking the door down and making a run for it to go get help."

"I would suggest not." My dad stepped in and handed me a bag of food. "Here."

I grabbed his hair to try and hurt him but He easily shoved me off of him and grabbed Azriel by the collar. "I told you what would happen if you tried this shit again."

"Get off of him-"

He slid the knife from his pocket across Azriel's neck so fast that I barely noticed how deep the wound had gone. I don't know how I managed it, but I grabbed the knife from my dad's hand and stabbed it into his shoulder. He turned to me, earning it stabbed into his chest at least five times before he hit the floor and I climbed on top of him. I stabbed him as many times as I could before my vision completely faded and tears poured down my face. I couldn't see where I was stabbing him anymore, my lungs burning as his blood splattered my skin.

"Demise, we have more important things to worry about!" Caine pulled me off and held his shirt to Azriel's neck. He only stared at us, trying to figure out what we were saying.

"What do we do?"

"Look for your dad's phone! We have to call an ambulance."

I stumbled to do what he told me, searching my fathers body and managing to find my own mobile phone. I quickly called the police and waited for someone to answer.

"911, what's your emergency?"

"I need an ambulance! My boyfriend's throat was cut open and he's bleeding everywhere!"

"Where are you?" I stammered through my address and watched as Azriel smiled at me. "What's your boyfriend doing? Is he still awake?"

"Barely, he's just looking at me. He's deaf so I don't even know how to talk to him!"

"Is anyone else with you?"

I shoved the phone to Caine and took over applying pressure to Azriel's neck. He coughed a bit, blood completely filling his mouth. "I can hear your voice in my head when you talk, so don't worry about the whole deaf thing."

"Can you breathe?"

"Not well."

"Everything's gonna be fine, you don't have to look at me like that." I placed a hand on his cheek, his own blood smearing across his dark skin. "Just focus on staying awake."

"I love you." He smiled again, leaning his face into my palm.

"Don't say that right now!"

"I have to. I can't breathe so...I'm worried that you won't get to hear it before I die."

"You're not gonna die."

"I can't see your lips anymore, so I don't know what you're saying." He glanced downwards aimlessly.

"Caine, what do I do?" I watched him close his eyes, sending tears to my eyes and desperation to my voice. "Caine, what the hell do I do?!"

"You sit and wait. He's gonna die."

"There has to be something I can do. What if you go get the bandages from the bathroom in the house and-"

"Bandages won't fix that."

"Caine! For once, can you at least pretend to care about him? He's fucking dying!"

"I do care about him, but there really isn't anything we can do."

"I care about you, Demise." Azriel grabbed my face with both hands but I knew he couldn't see me. "So do Jasmine and Caine. Don't sell yourself short, you're a great guy."

"You can't even hear me." I traced my thumb over his ear. "What am I supposed to say to you at a time like this?"

"Demise-" Caine reached for my arm but I kicked it away and pulled Azriel against my chest.

"I don't want him to die!"

I held him like that even after the ambulance came. After a few hours though, they had to set him on a stretcher, laying the sheet over his face and helping me into the back of the ambulance. They bandaged up my wrist and ankle, taking care of any other wounds I could have received down there. "Are you feeling okay? Do you feel sick at all?"

I stared at the nurse, glassy eyes and exhausted from crying so much. "I'm okay...do you have water?"

She pulled a water bottle from the cabinet and handed it to me. "We keep them back here for dehydrated patients. It's oddly common."

"Are you sure he's dead?"

"I'm sure. I'm sorry, Kid."
