You see two Dwarves walking in the Shire and run to catch up with them. "Hey, you two!" You exclaim. They turn to look back at you. "Yeah, yeah you! Where are you headed?" You ask, stopping next to them. "We're headed to Bilbo Baggins house. In Bag End." The blond one says. You stare at him. "Bag End? That's where I'm headed." You say. The black haired one grins. "Well, no way. I didn't know a human was joining us on our quest." He says. "Besides Gandalf. Well he's a Wizard." The blond says. "Gandalf. He invited me. I'm his granddaughter." You say, as you follow them. "I didn't even know Gandalf had kids." The dark haired one states, raising his eyebrows. "He doesn't talk about it much. Well...at all for that matter." You say, smiling. "I'm Fili and this is my little brother, Kili." Fili says. "Nice to meet you. I'm Y/N." You return, grinning down at them. "So...do you have a staff like Gandalf? Are you a wizard?" Kili asks, looking up at you. "Kili, don't bother her with the questions." Fili says. "Oh, no, no. That's all right." You say. "I'm a quarter Wizard. I don't have a staff or anything. But my grandfather is training me to be more like a full Wizard." You explain. "Neat." Fili murmurs. "So Erebor..." You start, looking at the brothers. Fili's eyes light up with excitement. "I'm so excited." He says, grinning. You laugh. "That's good." You say. You look to a Hobbit hole and see a blue mark on the door. "I think that's where we're supposed to go." You inform, opening up the Hobbit's little gate.~
"Grandfather!" You exclaim, rushing into Gandalf's arms. "Oh, Y/N!" He exclaims. "I've missed you." He says. "I've missed you too." You say. You pull away and look at him. "You look wonderful." You compliment. He brushes a hand in front of his face, knocking aside your comment, when Fili bumps into you, splattering some ale on your shirt. "Oh!" You exclaim, turning around. His face turns red. "I'm so sorry." He exclaims. "Forgive me." He begs, pulling a handkerchief out of his pocket "Oh, that's all right." You laugh softly, embarrassed. He pats down the wet spot on your hip, his face turning more red. "I'm so sorry." He whispers. "Fili, it's all right. It'll dry." You say. "So embarrassing." He groans, putting his face in his hands. You smile sympathetically. You glance at your grandfather and find him watching Fili and you, a strange smile on his face. "What is it?" You whisper, leaning in. He coughs and shakes his head. "Nothing. Nothing at all." He murmurs. He puts a hand on your shoulder and then goes off to find Bilbo.
The next afternoon, you're riding on a horse, in the middle of Fili and Kili. "Kili!" Thorin yells from the front of the group. "Yes?" Kili asks. "Come here, we need you up front for a second." Thorin says. Kili nods to you and moves forward. You look at Fili, who's staring at you. "What." You say, smiling. "How old are you?" He asks. "What?" You laugh. Fili blushes. "Sorry." He mumbles. "No, don't be. That's all right. If I was you, I would want to know how old I was too." You reply. "3056." You state. "What?" He asks, looking at you. "I'm 3056." You reply. "Oh." He says, shocked. You raise your eyebrows, grinning. "Trust me, compared to Gandalf, I'm just a baby." You reply. Fili laughs softly. "I'm 81." He states. "You look good." You say. "Mehhhh." He says, shrugging. "What is it?" You ask. "Not as good as you. You look younger than me." He says. "What!" You exclaim. "No way." You say. "It's true!" He laughs. "That is totally ridiculous." You say. "Hey, Bofur, who looks younger? Y/N or me?" Fili asks, as Bofur turns around. "Y/N." He says, without hesitation. "Ha! Told you." Fili says, looking to you. You roll your eyes and laugh.~
You lay on the ground, your hands behind your head, staring up at the stars. "It's hard to believe that we've already been traveling for a month." Fili says, next to you. You turn and look at him. Fili and you have grown very close for the past weeks. "I didn't know you were still up." You say. "What....you think I'd be like Bombur?" He asks, making you glance at the Dwarf. He sucks in a gasp of air and lets out a loud snore. Fili and you lean forward to stare at Bombur and you both silently laugh hysterically. "Maybe not." You giggle. Fili chuckles and lays back on his back. You lay next to him and you both watch the stars. "That was so funny." You say, grinning. "It was." He says, smiling. You turn your hand and look at him and he looks at you. You stare at each other for a second, something special and intimate passing between you. You break the gaze and look back to the stars, your heart pounding wildly. "Y/N." Fili says. You slowly look at him. "Hmm?" You say, raising your eyebrows. "I, um, I, uh..." He stutters nervously. He taps his fingers on his stomach for a minute. He suddenly turns on his side, his eyes never breaking contact with yours. "What is it?" You ask. He lets out a deep breath. "You know, we've known each other for a month. A long month. We been with each other every day and every hour." He starts. "Yep." You say. "I-I think I'm falling in love with you." He says hurriedly. Your eyes widen and your jaw drops an inch. Fili groans. "Ugh, I know it's so stupid." He says. You're quiet for a second. You put your hand on his hands and smile at him. "It's not stupid. I think it's beautiful." You say. "You do?" He asks. You nod. "It's beautiful because I feel the exact some way." You say. "You do?!" He exclaims. You nod. "I do." You reply.
A wolf howl fills the air and you jump next to Fili and grasp his arm, your eyes wandering over the area. "Sorry, wolf howls are the only things that bother me out in the wild." You murmur. Fili smiles and puts his hand over your hand. "That's all right." He says, squeezing your hand. You smile. More wolf howls surround you and you shiver. Fili pulls you against him and wraps an arm around your waist. "I've got you, Y/N. I will protect you." He whispers against your head. You wrap your arms around him and close your eyes. "I know." You whisper.
