" Go tell dada happy fathers day," I giggled as I set Ryan on the floor, I mean I know his tinny mouth can't say all those words, but I always enjoy seeing him try to mumble some phrase, and I'd never get tired of seeing his confused face when he can't pronounce them right. I leaned on the doorframe, watching my baby toddle his way to the bed and clutch the sheets in his tiny fists to try climbing on the bed. And he failed.
He carefully set Benji on the floor next to the bed as if dropping Benji was going to hurt it, " Dada, dada," he gently patted Vinnie's cheek, standing on his tiptoes to successfully wake his father up. And when Vinnie groaned he giggled and started to squirm and pull himself up.
" Wha-ow hey, good morning buddy!" Vinnie mumbled with his sleepy voice while rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, And when he didn't pick Ryan up, my little baby frowned his eyebrows as a sign of frustration. "Dadda up, pease,"
Finally, Ryan was brought to his father's lap and snuggled close to him, his little face buried in his father's chest and his tiny arms were locked around his neck. Even though they were in the middle of the bed, Vinnie's inked arm caressed Ryan's curly hair, and his other hand was securely rested on his back, he hugged him so tightly that he seemed to be protecting him from everything outside of their tiny circle. It was a stunning image, and I couldn't think how different my life would be without them.
" Good morning baby," I sat by the edge of the bed, not having the heart to interrupt their bonding time. They pulled away, both of them looking at me with so much love in their eyes. "Happy father-" I started but got interrupted by Ryan shushing me.
" No, me do- me do," he whined cupping Vinnie's face in his tiny arms, " appy fa-th-uh, uh mama, hep," and there it was, the cute confused face I've told you about. Vinnie giggled looking at his frown and pout.
" Happy father's d-"
" Me do, me do," he interrupted again, pouty face getting replaced by a happy one, he tried getting the words out again but failed, he pouted looking adorably at the ceiling again, and then he perked as if he got something in mind, " Appy dadda day," he finally said with a happy giggle placing a kiss on his father's cheek.
" Oww, you're so smart, thank you, my baby," Vinnie squealed unable to hide his smile, " I love you," He mumbled when Ryan buried his face in his neck.
" Mama, tell dada now," Ryan pulled away to scold me with stern eyes, and I couldn't help but laugh at his cuteness.
" Happy father's day, my precious baby daddy," I leaned in puckering my lips for my late morning kiss, which I got it as soon as I demanded it.
" It's really a blessing to spend my third fathers day with both of you in here with me, I love you two so much, more than anyone can imagine, and I can't imagine having this feeling taken away from me." He said gently rubbing Ryan's back, and judging from his voice, I knew he was on the verge of crying.
" No one is gonna take us away from you, We're going to stay together, and watch our little king grow up, go to school, have his first partner, we're gonna watch him fall in love and graduate, and you're gonna wipe my eyes the entire day when he moves out to college," I smiled letting those words come out of my heart.
It was a beautiful moment until a weird smell started to come out of Ryan's diaper. " Our college-going boy just pooped and he needs his morning bath," Vinnie chuckled.
" Yay, bath and nana mill, pease mama?" Ryan squirmed trying to pull away from his father's hold, he got out of the bed, pulling my hand with his tiny one, cheering and jumping up and down in excitement.
