"That was something", after a while I didn't hear any reply so I turned around.
I should have thought this through. There was nothing to stop him from running away. I sit down at the stairs of a nearby cafe which is now empty. I looked up to check where am I in the cafe board.
"Kirby cross? That's close! It felt like I ran a marathon"
I am 2 blocks away from where I started. Even that short distance is destroying me now. I should have packed a water bottle. I am contemplating whether to enter the cafe or not? If I leave money would they mind? I guess they would. I sat a bit trying to think what to do next.
I helped him escape and that's how he- Shit! He didn't hear me. He must be still there. It's 5 vs 1, can't be too sure. Seeing how he didn't fly off at the first chance his powers has definitely weakened. I dashed off to him once I realized this. Growl~ Now is not the time. Halfway through I slowed down, What if they didn't leave yet? I am too tired to fight someone. I walked carefully trying my best not to get caught.
From a distance, I could see a person lying on the ground. If it's one then it's him. He still is in one piece.
"You're such a disaster", I groan as I pick him up the unconscious 'hero'. "Like holy hell, How can anyone let you out of their sight. Stop picking fights with people you aren't ready for".
I simply call an ambulance. My body is not in a condition to be able to drag him. He wasn't injured a lot but some of the old ones opened up. After patching him up they transfer him to the general ward. He was still unconscious. This time I didn't forget as soon as he arrived I tied the tracker to his ankle. This got me a weird look from the doctor and nurse who brought him here, who cares? I have my priorities, learnt this the hard way. They attached an IV to his right arm, then turned towards me.
"Your turn", The doctor said.
"For?". Did I miss anything?
"For starters, there is blood dripping from your legs". My eyes widened on seeing my legs. There was so much going on I didn't realise this. The gesture me to come along. I turned towards Julian. The tracker is set I hope everything will be fine even if I leave. The nurse helped me up and took me towards the treatment room.
Two out of three had opened up. After examining all the doctor looked me dead in the eye and asked, " Are you trying to destroy your legs? I don't understand. Why do people never understand what being careful means?"
I got caught at the wrong time I guess. His previous patient must have gone against what he told. I had a valid reason, unlike that idiot. The nurse mouthed 'sorry, please don't mind him'. I gave a sweet smile in return. I didn't mind and anyhow what he said, after all, it was with my welfare in mind.
While he treats my cut I plan out my next step. Warren, my next target has arrived in the city. According to plan, he should be taken out tomorrow but the situation is not at all favourable. If I start preparing tomorrow I should be able to execute the plan a day before he leaves. My lab is destroyed and it will be repaired in 10 days at the latest. Looks like I will have to get creative. There should be similar gadgets somewhere in the storeroom. Let's just hope my plan for Julian works or everything will go down the drain. He is a big- huh.
I was so lost in thought I didn't realise when he was finished stitching up and even handed me a thermometer.
"Why-". "Just do as I say", he said madder than before. Okkaaayy.
The doctor's anger was well placed. 104.F is unquestionably not the temperature of a healthy human. Now I know why my blood was boiling, quite literally. Got scolded on how careless I am. Probably more cuz he was in a bad mood. I have been getting nagged quite a lot nowadays, first uncle Terry now the doctor. Even my mom used to get mad but always ended up crying while applying medicine on my wound.
