"Wow, that's pretty morbid," Raven said at lunch.
"It explains my life."
"You wrote that in US History?"
"Yep."
"Oh what's this," Alicia walked over to our table, grabbed the notebook out of my hand and read the story, "It 'explains your life'? Are you gay?" She laughed, her popular posse echoing.
"No... I'm not..."
"You hesitated!" Trish said.
"Ok, maybe she is, but it's not called 'gay', it's called homosexual and there's nothing wrong with it!" Raven was a really good friend.
"What-ever!" Alicia and her popular posse walked away.
While we ate, Raven and I talked about adventures and how much fun it would be to run away and never come back. We both knew we couldn't, but it was still fun to talk about. After laughing for three minutes straight, we realized that Amy wasn't there. I figured she probably went home... or sat somewhere else. The first one was what I hoped had happened.
Lunch ended and we separated to go to our next class. On my way to language arts, I looked out the window (like I usually did when I wanted to avoid eye contact with the other students). There was something strange about the sky. I didn't know what it was, it wasn't obvious, but I knew there was something wrong. I could feel it.
