Bus Ride

I stepped onto the bus and everyone was cracking up. "Yay. Another day of complete torture," I thought.

I sat down next to the only people I considered my friends, Amy and Raven. Amy was a tall, skinny, white girl with long, curly brown hair. She would've been the perfect popular girl if it wasn't for her black rectangular glasses and her lack of a rich father. Raven was beautiful. She had long straight blond hair that's as always in a ponytail and wore lots of bright colors, but she had a sad life. Her parents were very abusive and lost custody of her when she was 12. She had to live with her aunt who believed she had to cover the marks to be accepted. All three of us enjoyed comic books and video games and were alway up for an adventure.

Since my stop was the second stop on the route there was always a lot of time to kill and I liked to spend that time examining the other stops. The first one (after mine) was the subdivision RoseBerry, a neighborhood filled with snobby rich kids who would never need a job because their parents paid for everything. The second was ElmWood, the poorest subdivision in our town that everyone made fun of. Even I felt pity for them, and my family was really poor. The last stop before the school was Sunshine Apartments, a happy name for an apartment complex, but not the best quality. I had lived there for most of elementary school, but we got kicked out the month before my fifth grade year because my stepmother set off the fire alarm too many times (all it took was one cigarette).

By the time we finally got to the school, the bus was packed full of annoying kids, laughing kids, and me, Raven, and Amy. I was glad to get off.
