Chapter Twelve:

I heard the door unlock.

I looked up
and squinted.

"Oh, hey... Shoto"
I said, tiredly.

"You didn't tell me who else you were living with."
He said sternly, I sat up.

I looked at the antique clock on the wall.

It was three in the afternoon.

"... so you two talked."
I said, now fully awake.

He leaned against the doorway,
his head against the wood frame.

I saw a text on my phone from Dabi.

'Shoto might be mad.
Sorry, he's just hurt.'

I sighed.

"You can be mad at me,
but wouldn't you rather know
then listen to a lie?"
I asked, he closed the door
and sat down beside me.

I was worried how mad he was.

He hugged me,
I was surprised.

"Thank you.
I'm not the only Todoroki anymore,"
He said, a tear down his face.

Shoto's family had suffered a great loss after his mother passed.

Fuyumi's last thread had snapped,
Natsuo died to an attack from All For One,
his final moments trying to save the one he loved.

"He never intended for you to suffer like this,
he cares so much Shoto. I hope you know that,"
I smiled softly, hugging him tighter.

I helped him up after another few minutes of hugging.

We walked to go see Dabi,
he turned his head away.

Dabi was worried about
upsetting and hurting Shoto more.

Shoto walked up to him,
Dabi went to apologize.

But Shoto just hugged him.

Dabi smiled and rested his head on Shoto's.

"I missed you, I'm so sorry.."

Dabi finished.

"If only they could be here with us.."
Shoto looked up to Rei, Fuyumi and Natsuo.

"At least we have each other,"
Dabi said, Shoto nodded.

Izuku and Katsuki walked in,
knowing what was happening minutes in advance.

"I'll leave you all to catch up,
see you all tomorrow."
I spoke, Shoto smiled and nodded.

They were going to eat dinner together,
but I'd rather find an abandoned rooftop to watch the sunset.

I closed the big doors to Shoto's estate.

I walked around the now dark city streets,
looking up for any way to a rooftop.

I saw a small space high enough to see the sunset,
but low enough to reach.

I yawned as I climbed up the ladder.

Fall was ending,
winter was on its way.

I shivered as a cold breeze
passed over me.

I shook off the cold.

Someone wrapped a warm blanket over me.

"Hello?-"

I turned to see Shinso.

I blinked to be sure,
seeing he's still there I let him sit down beside me.

"How'd you find me here?"
I asked, calmly.

"This rooftop happens to be
right above my apartment."
He chuckled, I sighed.

Of course it was.

His nose turned a light shade of pink,
along with the tips of his ears.

I lifted my arm,
the blanket covering us both.

He smiled,
getting comfortable.

"Why'd you come up here anyway?"
He asked, honestly.

"Needed space to myself for a bit,
guess I got unlucky."
I teased.

He shifted to get up,
I tilted my head.

"You said you needed space,"
He said simply.

I shook my head,
letting him sit closer.

I had the blanket covering us both,
better this time.

He moved his cold hand
before it touched mine.

"Oh cut the cliches,"
I said, laughing quietly.

I held his cold hand to warm it up.

When he warmed up more I let go,
turning my head away from the sunset to face him.

"Better?"
I asked him.

He was shivering slightly,
but nodded so I wouldn't think about it.

"I'm fine-"
I cut him off.

I lifted the blanket one final time,
sitting him down in between my legs
and wrapping us completely.

I pulled him closer,
whispering so I wasn't too loud in his ear.

"Warmer now?"
I asked again.

His cheeks were a light shade
of pink from the cold.

The tips of his ears went a darker shade
with the warmth of my breath.

He nodded instead of talking.

I let him lean back against my chest,
the blanket covering him perfectly.

I traced my hand down his face,
he shivered again.

My hand had gotten colder.

I apologized under my breath.

Instead of uttering another word
he pulled my hand down to his cheek,
putting his hand over mine.

"Are your hands warmer now?"
He teased, I rolled my eyes at him.

A hint of a smile on my face.

I pushed a strand of hair
away from his face.

I acted on my unusual urge
without thinking.

Kissing his forehead.

He seemed surprised,
I mumbled an awkward apology.

I looked away,
an embarrassed blush across my face.

He chuckled,
making me look at him again.

"I guess I do have an ally,
just not in the way I expected."
He joked, I rolled my eyes at him.

My ears turned pink with embarrassment.

His hand on my cheek,
keeping my focus solely on him.

"If you wanted to kiss me you could have just asked,"
He teased, I shook my head.

Explaining it was just an idiotic urge.

He turned around,
our lips touching.

"There, now we're even."
He said, I brushed off any thoughts.
