trigger warning— verbal abuse, physical abuse, drug use.
if any of these bother you, you're more than welcome to skip the chapter.

here's a little summary of what happens; reece cries in the middle of the night, saraí sees. she confronts him and he finally tells her about his father who is an abusive drug addict.

i'll even put a little mark where the possibly triggering content begins.

reece always had a habit of waking up earlier than others. which is why he stood in the bathroom at five in the morning, staring at his reflection as his eyes watered. he'd tried holding it in and pretending like everything in his life was normal. but it wasn't...it was far from it.

he wasn't lying when he told sarai he was on the phone with his aunt that day. he wished he could tell her what was going on but he wasn't strong enough. and he also felt a bit ashamed of the truth. it wasn't easy to tell people because whenever he did, the expression that would grow on their faces was enough to make him feel embarrassed.

he raised his hands to his face, wiping the tears from his eyes. he turned off the light as he walked back to bed, sliding beside saraí's still body. as he sniffled, the noise made her stir in her sleep. she faced her head towards him as she barely opened her eyes, still groggy.

"baby?" she murmured, reaching her hand out to his body.

"y-yeah?" his voice was hoarse, not doing a good job at hiding the fact that he'd been crying. so, he coughed to clear his throat. "yeah?" he repeated.

fortunately, she seemed too tired to even notice. she said something incoherent before she scooted closer to him, resting her head on his chest. minutes later, she was asleep because reece could hear the soft snores that came from her mouth that made him smile.

a couple hours passed by and when the sunlight peeked through the blinds, sarai was the first one to wake up. she looked over her shoulder and stared at reece's face. it broke her heart last night when she figured out that he was crying. she may have acted like she didn't notice, but she did.

so, she carefully stepped out of bed and made her way into the kitchen. with this being his last week, she wanted to spoil him and hopefully make him feel better. after their conversation before, she didn't want to pressure him into speaking about whatever was on his mind. only thing she could do was remind him that she was there for him.

sarai mixed some pancake batter in a large bowl and began pouring some onto the flat pan. as it slowly formed little bubbles, she cracked a couple eggs into another pan and stirred it together until it was the consistency that scrambled eggs were meant to be.

she continued cooking until she heard the bedroom door creak open. her head flew up and smiled when she saw reece walking towards her.

"goodmorning baby." she said, adding another pancake to the stack that was slowly growing. "how did you sleep?"

reece shrugged his shoulders as he stepped behind her, snaking his arms around her waist. "alright." he replied, peppering kisses along her neck.

saraí sighed, in content, as she closed her eyes. his kisses were getting wetter and sloppier, which made her squeeze her legs together as the feeling between them grew. but she felt bad knowing that reece was hurting inside yet he still was trying to make her feel good. so, she pulled away from him.
