saraí laid on the couch, her head propped on a pillow. a movie was playing on the television. she stared at the screen but she wasn't really watching. her mind was elsewhere. she couldn't stop thinking about reece. who had he been talking to?

a few minutes passed, she had fallen asleep. reece stepped out of the shower with a towel wrapped around his waist. once he dried his body and changed into a fresh set of pajamas, he walked into the living room. his eyes landed on saraí. she was curled in a ball.

he grabbed the controller and turned off the console as well as the tv. reece bent down to the floor till he was at the same level, planting a peck onto her forehead.

he lifted her into his arms. she remained sound asleep as she leaned her head against his chest. reece stood there, looking down at the side of her face. she looked so peaceful and beautiful.

under her voice, saraí mumbled something but it wasn't loud enough for him to understand. he placed her softly onto the bed, tucking her body underneath the covers. reece laid next to her and fell asleep.

when she woke up , her eyes looked at reece's arm that wrapped around her stomach. her mouth curved upwards into a smile. he didn't leave her on the couch but instead took her to the bed.

soon after, reece woke up as well. he unwrapped himself away, making saraí frown. he sat up and yawned, looking at her.

"hi baby." he said, his voice low and sexy. saraí would never get over his accent. it was so beautiful.

she looked back at him. "hi."

"how did you sleep?" he asked, pulling her closer to his side and kissing her cheek.

her stomach was doing flips. "i slept good. thank you for bringing me in here."

reece grinned. "of course. i couldn't let you sleep on the couch even when you're mad at me."

that's right. she was mad at him. she didn't want to be but she couldn't help it. why couldn't he just tell her who was on the phone. saraí didn't understand.

she sat up and propped herself up with her arm. "are you finally going to tell me who was on the phone last night?"

he sighed softly. "do i need to?"

see, that right there confused her. why couldn't he just tell her straight up because instead, he's making it seem like a secret and she didn't appreciate that one bit. what was he hiding that she could not know?

"just forget it." she got out of bed and walked out of the room, leaving reece there with a frown.

now he didn't understand why she couldn't respect his privacy. there were some things he wasn't ready to speak about and the fact that she was pushing him, despite him already saying no, irritated reece. if she didn't have any trust him, how was this going to work? especially because he lives thousands of miles away.

"saraí," he sighed. "don't be like that, please."

she popped her head out from the restroom and scoffed.
"are you serious?" saraí stomped back towards the bed, grabbed a pillow and smacked across his face with it. "fuck you."

reece lifted his arm up, as a way to defend himself in case she decided to hit him again. "man, put that fucking pillow down now."

"no!" she shouted. "you're such an asshole. you don't see me hiding in the bathroom talking to some mysterious guy and telling him i love him."

saraí felt so angry, almost expecting steam to blow out from her eyes and into the air around her head. she couldn't believe that this man still couldn't just spit out the truth. reece could be cheating on her for all she knew and if that was the case, she'd feel so stupid right now.

"please, let me explain. just listen." he reached out and grabbed her hands, rubbing the back of them with his thumbs. "no more hitting."

"okay." saraí mumbled.

reece exhaled dramatically, looking down at bed.
"i'm not cheating on you saraí, i would never do that to you. baby, that was my aunt on the phone."

as soon as the words left his mouth, saraí still felt stupid. his aunt? she was making a big deal for absolutely nothing and a large, enormous in fact, part of her felt horrible for accusing reece of cheating. why couldn't he just say this in the beginning?

"why didn't you say so?" she asked him, confused.

"i tried to. but either way, the reason we were on the phone isn't something i'm completely comfortable with yet. it's very personal."

saraí felt embarrassed. she had made a huge scene about the matter but deep down, she still felt as though part of her was not completely in the wrong. either way, she didn't want to cause any more issues between the two.

"okay," she forced a smile. "i'm sorry."

reece grabbed her hand, entwining their fingers together and brought it to his lips. "i'd never cheat on you," he said. "ever."
