When Jiseol first decided to join her school's debate team, she wanted in for the experience. She wasn't one of the smartest, she wasn't good at sports, so she needed to do at least something that would bring value to her name. During her very first tournament, she arrived with the ultimate mindset that she only wanted to gain experience and sharpen her talent.

But now, two years later during her very last high school debate tournament, she desperately wanted to win.

She wanted nothing more than to hear her school's name, Nayu Girls High School, being announced as the debate champions for the year. She wanted her team to bring back the golden trophy instead of the silver one for once. She wanted the name Park Jiseol to be crowned as the best speaker, not the name Lee Donghyuck.

Lee Donghyuck.
Leetae Boys High School's debate ace.
The person responsible of turning sweet, naïve, "Winning or losing doesn't matter," Park Jiseol into the flaming, competitive Park Jiseol that would turn herself inside out just to win.

The feeling of dread washed over Jiseol like heavy rain when she saw that the boys of Leetae were to be seated right behind them for the closing ceremony. Avoiding them was impossible and to top it off, Leetae's ace went out of his way to sit directly behind Jiseol just to make the ceremony her living hell. To Donghyuck's defense, it was their last time meeting anyways. He tapped on her shoulders, used her hair as a fake make-up brush, "accidentally" kicked her chair more than once. It took everything she had not to lose her shit right then and there.

Upon hearing that her team would be bringing back the golden trophy and she herself was named the best speaker for that year's tournament, however, Jiseol realized that those two hours of pure torture were worth it. In fact, the past three years of having to deal with Leetae's arrogance and the girls' increasingly intense practice were totally worth it. She had waited years for this opportunity to gloat, to brag, to show that asshole from Leetae that she was just as good as he was. So when he came up to the girls while they were taking pictures, Jiseol didn't hesitate to shove her best speaker trophy in Donghyuck's face.

"Suck it, Lee Donghyuck!" Jiseol grinned proudly.

For so long, she had imagined what Donghyuck's reaction would be like when she finally beat him. She couldn't wait to reel in his dissatisfaction, she yearned to be the reason that smug look finally got wiped off his stupid face, she was so excited to see him try and bail himself out of his embarrassment.

Yet instead, all he did was smirk at her.

"Best out of three," Donghyuck shrugged, tapping her chin. "I'm going to miss you, Seol."
