"You're in love with him!"
Jiseol rolled her eyes and leaned back in her chair, feeling both irritated and weirded out by how excited her high school best friend was. Yeji's grinning face filled up the whole screen, the past hour of their weekly Facetime call having been entirely about Donghyuck. Not that Jiseol was the one who voluntarily made him the topic of conversation—it was Yeji that kept on pestering her about him until she spilled everything, including what had happened at Chenle's the night before.
"I seriously can't understand how you came to that conclusion," Jiseol said.
"You were talking about how you guys kissed and in fact, almost slept together, but you didn't mind it even a bit! From how much you say you don't like the guy, I haven't heard a single complaint from you."
"That's because I was telling you about something more important," Jiseol lowered her voice down, afraid that Donghyuck would come home anytime soon and hear them talking.
"I can't complain because I'm so consumed by the thought of how weird it is that I feel like I've done it before. I haven't kissed many dudes, but I feel like it wasn't the first time I kissed him. Which would be fucking strange because when would I ever had kissed him?"
Yeji playfully wiggled her eyebrows. "Maybe you've fantasized about it so much it started feeling real to you."
"I have never fantasized about kissing Donghyuck. You said it yourself; I don't like him. Not even as a person! I've complained to you about him since high school, why would I think about kissing him?"
"Look, all I'm saying is there's a fine line between love and hate," Yeji said. "You know my good friend Haeyi that I'm close to? Yeah, she and this guy hated each other since their first year of high school but they started dating last year and now they're the best couple on campus. Everyone just knows they're getting married."
Jiseol scoffed. "I highly doubt the same would happen to me. I don't want it to happen to me."
"All I'm saying is that if you and your hot ass roommate decide to woohoo it out, you have my full support."
The call ended at midnight once Jiseol heard beeping from their brand new keypad, courtesy of the landlord who only got it fixed because the two rest-deprived tenants looked like they were going to eat him alive. For the first time since they started living together, Jiseol considered leaving her room to greet Donghyuck. She got up from her chair, only to stop very abruptly because the sudden realization of why the fuck would I welcome Donghyuck home crossed her mind and she ended up falling to the floor with a loud thump. As she hissed in pain and shame, there was the sound of Donghyuck's duffel bag being dropped and the rush of footsteps towards her room. The door swung open and she met eyes with Donghyuck in his training clothes, looking down at her in worry.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"Yeah."
Donghyuck sighed of what seemed to be relief, then pulled out his phone to take pictures of Jiseol withering on the floor, managing to capture one of her flipping him off.
