The Adventures of Skye; The rise and fall of the Device

Chapter 6

"How did it go?" Skye asked when they all made it back into the speedboat. "good." They said. "can we go home now?" Ari asked. "give me the information." Skye snapped. "ok, I found out that Midas and TNTina are both Shadow and also married! I knew it!" Ari said. Skye's eyes widened. "well Meowscles is Ghost and Icefang is Ghost." Talon said. "Deadpool is Ghost." Shawn said. "now you three will go to Jones and he will get you home. I am going to Brutus." Skye said. "wow. I wish Lizzy could see this...she'd never believe me...." Ari said to herself.

Sky drove down the water to the Grotto, it felt good to be by herself, a single tear rolled down her cheek. she sniffed. Midas hurt her. he hurt her so bad. Skye shook her head, promising to never let it happen again.

When Skye got to the Grotto she brushed her jacket off. if Jones couldn't do anything then she would. She had to go to The Grotto, not to see Brutus, but to see who's there and what it's like. Then Skye realized, she had never actually been to the Grotto! Skye shook her head again, "let's do this." Skye hurried to a telephone booth to put on her disguise. She walked past the guards easily, they didn't even look at her. The hot sun shone on her black clothes making her sweat from both heat and fear. wow, this is pretty bad security. she thought. She walked around the water, it was cool in here, shadow henchmen were all around her. Skye kept walking, she walked up the stairs and turned to her right, hearing voices, she followed the noise. Midas. Midas was talking. her eyes burned, her heart seemed to shatter into a million pieces all over again. "She knows. we have to do it, Brutus." Midas said. he seemed to be on the phone. Skye walked a little closer. "what she is?" Midas asked. "right here? OK. yeah, on three..." What were they talking about? The door opened. Midas smirked, "I had a feeling you'd come." "Uh, what?" Skye said, making her voice deeper. Skye gasped, she spoke English! not Henchmen! "what! you can speak English Toby?!?" Midas exclaimed playing along. "um..." Skye said, "i-i learned...y-yesterday!" "oh!" Midas exclaimed. "you don't think things through Skye." "How did you know," Skye growled. "How you talk, I've seen you pretend to be people you like." Skye blushed. "also, the hair." A deep voice said from behind her, she felt someone lifting up her brown hair, then the man ripped off her hat and mask. Skye turned around to see Brutus standing with her mask and hat in one of his big hands. Skye's face turned red with fury. "YOU LIED TO ME!" She yelled at Midas. Midas raised an eyebrow. "Did I?" "YOU WORK FOR SHADOW! THE BAD GUYS!" Skye screamed. "Double check that," Midas said. "What, that your shadow?!?" Skye exclaimed. "No, I am Shadow. But are you sure that Shadow's a bad guy?" Midas said smoothly. Midas started to walk away, nodding to Brutus. Brutus grabbed Skye's arms and threw her into the office, then he locked the door and walked away.

Skye banged on the door. "no. No. No. No. No. No. No. NO!" Skye said banging the door, "MIDAS! I'LL KILL YOU!" Skye screamed. "I'll kill you," she whispered. Skye banged on the door for a while until she remembered that she was in an office! Skye left the door and rummaged around the office, there had to be a paper clip or something, she lifted up a stack of papers and put them to the side.
She looked around the neat office, a smirk appeared on her face, she threw the papers on the floor and kicked a box over. She looked back at the desk, there was a folder, she opened it, connecting a group of papers together was a paper clip! "Score!" Skye exclaimed. Skye looked at the paper, it was a letter;

Brutus:
SKYE MUST NOT BE KILLED

Midas.

Skye raised an eyebrow, did Midas care? Or did he hate her? Skye shook her head and opened the door with the paperclip, it took a few minutes but she was able to do it. She looked around for the best way out. Then she realized, Midas was going to activate his device now! Today! Maybe any minute! Skye promised herself that she would stop him. At all costs.

Midas walked into his office, Skye would be here soon, he knew she wouldn't be trapped in Brutus' office forever. She was probably on her way here now, that still meant that he had time. He picked up the phone and called TNTina, "it's happening." he said when she picked up, then he hung up.  He walked into the room with the device and smiled, if this works...it will change everything. He walked over to the machine, rebooting it after the last fail would take ten minutes, is that enough time? He thought.

When there were 2 minutes left on the machine Skye walked through the door, "Midas!" Midas sighed. "Skye, please...." "I won't let you do this," Skye said. Midas turned around, "I have to." "I won't let you." Skye said again, "how could you be on Shadow? The bad guys!!" Midas laughed. "They're only the bad guys to some people."  Skye took out her sword and charged at Midas. He dodged and looked at the timer; 50 seconds. Skye was about to press the Off button when Midas pushed her and she pressed the Start now button. "Oh no," Midas said. He got up and stared at the machine, Skye had pressed the start button, but the machine wasn't ready so it wasn't going to work the way it was supposed to. The ground started shaking, and lighting blasted from the device, Skye and Midas were frozen, then Midas bolted, Skye ran after him. Midas made it into the lobby of the Agency. The whole Agency shook, causing him to fall against the pillar. "MIDAS!" Skye yelled after him. She gripped her sword and ran after him, nearly dodging a piece of the building falling down.

TNTina gaped in wonder at the distance, a tsunami was rolling in, "Midas...what did you do?" TNTina said shaking her head. He had called earlier but he was speaking too fast so TNTina couldn't understand him, all she got was "Now". She hopped off her post and nimbly ran across the Rig. "Grab what you can and run towards the Agency!" She exclaimed. TNTina hopped into a speed boat and rode the river as far as she could, noticing that the water was rising.

Brutus gasped as the water rose higher and higher, "Midas? You started it?!?" Brutus groaned to himself, he ran to the Helicopter and got in. He tried to start it but it wouldn't work, shoot, one of the henchmen had forgotten to fill it with gas. There should be a gas can somewhere inside. Brutus ran inside and looked everywhere for a gas can. Now the water was up to his knees. Brutus remembered the air chamber, he could get out using that! Brutus walked as fast as he could to the chamber, when he got there the water was up to his chest, he turned around and walked a little bit backward. He gasped as he fell into the chamber, there wasn't any air, the fan wasn't working! He hit the water with a smack. Gasping for breath he treaded water. What could he do? He could wait for the water to rise up to the door, looking up he realized that the door had closed. Swearing, he thought of another way. The chamber was closed on the top and on the side, but there is a button to open the chamber, but the problem was, that button was underneath the water quite a ways down. He took a big breath and dived down into the water, he swam all the way down with barely any breath left, he was able to press the button and was on his way up when he couldn't hold his breath anymore, he gasped and swallowed a big mouth full of water, he swam as fast as he could, and then he was still. His body slowly rose to the top, and Brutus was no more.

Midas and Skye made it to the grass outside the Agency just in time, the Device blasted a sonic ring, causing the Agency to burst apart, Midas gasped. But he didn't have much time to be remorseful, because Skye yelled at him again, he ran a little bit.  The device made another sound and up rose these structures from the ground. They started to make purple energy, each connecting to each other. Midas looked up in terror, "it's too early..." he muttered, "it's too soon..." Midas said putting his hands through his hair, he took a big breath, "WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE!" Skye looked at him, Midas losing his cool? yup, they where going to die then. "if we are going to die..." Skye said slowly. Midas' eyes were darting around, looking for a possible way to escape. "...I'LL MAKE SURE YOU DIE FIRST!" Skye exclaimed, running towards Midas. Midas looked at her with wide eyes. "ha...." he said giving a forced laugh. "Skye, you don't understand." Midas said. "Oh i understand." Skye said.  Midas laughed again, "no, you don't." Then the Device blasted them backwards again, they must have flew about six feet up in the air, Midas landed in the water and Skye landed in a bush. "MIDAS?" TNTina asked through his earpiece. Midas gasped for air, "yes?" he said casually. "are you dyeing?" TNTina asked. "nope. well, maybe... i don't know. how about you?" Midas said. "how can you not know if your dyeing?"  TNTina asked. "I'm in the water, the water's the only way, the water is the only way." Midas said. "Wait! Midas! whats happening?" TNTina asked. "i love you my Fire." Midas said and he went under water just as  another blast from the Device happened. "Midas!" Skye yelled, there was no hope in chasing him, he was already too far down stream. "NO!" she yelled. It was over. the Device had done its damage. it was over.

But not for Skye. She wasn't done yet.
