Justian was bored as any rowdy teenager would be. He was itching to get out and do something other than lying in bed all day.

He got up and left his room, swinging his legs as he did. They didn't feel as natural as when he was in mer-form but it would have to work for now. Besides, there was so many more opportunities on land than there were under the sea.

Justians parents weren't home quite yet, and he was bored. Maybe if he asked they would come home early tonight.

When they didn't respond to his text asking, he decided to go out and find something better to do.

It was an unusually warm autum but Justian was okay with that as long as in meant warmer water for his weekly swims. Justain walked up and down the street till he came to a park. Inside a group of girls around his age were playing catch with softballs.

One of them however was sitting out, her medium length red hair undone, falling across her back. She wore a frown unlike the others. "Hey," said Justian, regretting it the second it left his mouth.

The girl feinged not to hear him so he said a little louder. "My names Justian."

She turned suddenly. "What do you want, dude. Cant you see I'm busy."

Justian tried for a joke, his lips tugging up the edges of a crooked smile. "You don't look busy."

She looked more hurt than annoyed by this comment. "We have an uneven number of girls today so I'm the one stuck sitting out. Which isn't fair."

"I could play with you," Justain offered. He was honestly so ready for rejection he was suprised when the girl said yes.

"Here," she said. "You can use my catchers glove. Have you ever played before?"

"Yeah, of course." No he had not.

"Good," said the girl. "My name's Margot by the way." Margot, he repeated to himself in his head.

Margot grabbed a ball from a nearby bucket and tossed it to Justian. "Come on, I'll introduce you to the team." She cleared her throat and said to her still throwing teammates, "This is Justian. He's going to be helping us out during practice today." Justain was just happy she rembered his name.

Justian learned he was suprisingly good at softball. The Snails, as he soon learned their
team name was, was a good team but he was better. Maybe than all of them combined.

The only one who didn't seem to like him was Nans and Lisa, who kept throwing him dirty looks across the feild.

By the end of practice Justian felt better than he had in days. "So," said Margot. "Will you be at the potluck on Friday?"

Justain blushed, not expecting to be envited anywhere. "Umm.. yeah, I-I-I'll be there."

"Good," Margot said, and with that she turned away.
