AN: Like I said in the description, this specific story would be more focused on the many interactions of Horikita and Ayanokouji. In this alternate universe, Kitoyaka's views towards people would greatly change before the island exam, stopping him from looking at people as nothing but tools and making that damn monologue at the end of the first special exam.

Because of his interactions and friendship with Horikita in the earlier parts of the story, he would naturally tend to aid our lovely tsundere more than what he did in the books. These helpful gestures and caring attitude towards the cold girl would naturally make Horikita more tolerable to readers.

Anyways, hope you guys enjoy!

April 1st

Ahh, The entrance ceremony. Finally.

I was going to school on a bus, which shook every time it passed over a bumpy area of the road. As I watched the landscape change from area to area, the passengers on the bus increased gradually. Most of the passengers were wearing school uniforms.

Suddenly, the bus stopped, making an old woman enter the almost-filled bus.

I made a mistake by taking this specific bus.

As I looked away from the old lady to minimize my chances of being asked to stand up, I caught a glimpse of a very interesting sight. A long, black-haired girl was reading a very sophisticated book that most do not touch. Was she perhaps a student as well? Of course she is, you dumbo. She's wearing the same uniform as you.

As if she sensed my staring, our eyes met for a brief second, making me look away from embarrassment.

Quit staring. me.

That poor old woman will have to wait until the bus arrives at her destination. Hopefully it isn't too far. I might not have interest in giving up my seat, but I still don't want her to suffer from standing up from too long.

The cloudless sky and clear weather is refreshing... freedom.

My peace was suddenly interrupted.

"Don't you think you should give up your seat?"

Goddammnit, I was about to fall asleep too!

As the people on the bus listen guiltily to the two, slowly turning into three people who were arguing about giving up seats for the old woman, my eyes magnetically fall back to the girl across my right. She was very pretty, some might say beautiful. Her eyes were filled with intelligence and the vibe I was getting from her was very cold, somewhat aloof, calm and collected, yet blunt and dangerous.

I would be lying if I said that her physical aspects were not attractive, specially to people like me who only had limited interactions with the opposite sex.

Our eyes briefly met once again. Steeling myself from a possible bad ending situation, I met her gaze head on, making her gasp in surprise and look away after a few seconds.

Great. The day hasn't even started yet and I'd already be branded as a pervert. Nice one.

Once the morally questionable situation was resolved, (Like, seriously? Guilt-tripping people just to give their seat?) the bus slowly lulled back to its peaceful quiet. Only the sounds of incessant thank yous from the old lady was heard across the vehicle.

Disembarking from the bus, I slowly walk towards the gates of my new school, my ticket to a new life, the start of my freedom.
