Did you see Steve?

Catherine was sleeping, when she heard her alarm. She woke up to turn off the alarm. Catherine realized that Steve was not there. She thought that he might woke up earlier to go for a run at the beach, as he used to do  that every morning. She went downstairs to prepare the breakfast for her and the kids. Some minutes later, Jennifer and Jason entered the kitchen. "Good morning mommy!", they both said. Catherine smiled and looked at them. "Good morning!", she said. "Where's daddy?", Jennifer said and sat on her chair. "I think that daddy went for a run. He will return home in a while", Catherine said. "I hope that dad will come back soon. He promised to play soccer with us", Jason said. "You know that dad keeps his promises Jason", Catherine said. Then, the door bell rang. "I am on it", Jennifer said and ran to open the door. She saw Kono standing behind the door. "Good morning sweetie! Is mom or dad here?", Kono said and looked at Jennifer while smiling. "Mommy is at the kitchen", Jennifer replied. Kono got in the house and went to the kitchen. Catherine instantly saw her. "Good morning Kono", she said. "Good morning Catherine. Where's Steve?", she said. "The truth is that i don't know. But i guess that he went to run at the beach", Catherine said. "Well, we have a case to solve, so you have to come to the Headquarters now", Kono said. "Give me some time to prepare the breakfast for Jennifer and Jason, and we will go together", Catherine said. "It's ok. Take you time Cath. I have to call the others", Kono said and took out her phone to call the others. Meanwhile, Catherine had finished the breakfast preparation, and she gave some orders to Jennifer and Jason. "Stay quiet as long as mommy will be at job. Don't open the door to any stranger and if you need anything, just call me on my phone, ok?", she said. "Yes mommy", Jennifer and Jason said. "Come on, give a hug to mommy", Catherine said. Jennifer and Jason hugged Catherine. Then, she turned to Kono. "Let's go.", Catherine said. Kono and Catherine got in their cars and they headed to the Headquarters. When they arrived, they went upstairs to the central room, where they saw Chin, searching something about their case. "Good morning Kono. Good morning Catherine", Chin said. "Good morning Chin", the 2 women said. "Where's Steve", Chin asked and looked at Catherine. "I guess that he went running at the beach. He hasn't returned home yet", Catherine said. Then, Danny got in the room. "Hey Catherine. Did you see Steve? I am trying to contact him to tell him something, but he is not answering to his phone", Danny said. "I think that he went to the beach to run, but he still hasn't returned home", Catherine said. "Well, let's begin solving our case, and when Steve comes, we will let him know about what we have found", Chin said. "Ok, what do we have to deal with this time?", Catherine said. "A young couple was found dead in an apartment at the North Shore", Chin said. "Then, what are we doing here? Let's go to the North Shore to check the victim!", Catherine said. The rest of the team nodded, and they all went to their cars.

The team headed to the crime scene. Max was already there, making an autopsy to the victims. Kono saw him. "What do we have Max?", Kono said. "The victims had their throats cut. They couldn't scream or talk, because the murderer made a deep cut, so they were drowned in their own blood", Max said. "Anything else?", Chin added. "I have to take the corpses to the lab, in order to make a full autopsy", Max said. "Good. Do your job. Just tell us the victims' names to check them", Chin said. "The woman's name was Kayle O'Neal and the man's name was Eric Daniels", Max said. "Good job", Chin said. The team returned to the Headquarters. Chin started seaching for the victims, while Kono and Danny were talking to some relatives of the couple. Catherine was sitting in her office, trying to contact Steve. Suddenly, she heard Chin's voice, talking to Kono and Danny. "Catherine, can you come here for a second?", Chin said. Catherine responded and went over the table. "What happened Chin?". "Kono and Danny found that someone was after Kayle and Eric", Chin said. "What was their profession?", Catherine asked. "Eric was a former SWAT officer, and Kayle was working as a secretary for Congressman McKnight", Kono said. "Good. Me and Chin will try to find Congressman McKnight and talk to him. You and Kono go to the SWAT headquarters and talk to the Commander. Try to find if Eric was involved in any dirty job or something went wrong during any deployment", Catherine said. "We are on it", Danny said and terminated the call. Chin and Catherine left and went to find Congressman McKnight. Meanwhile, Kono and Danny went to the SWAT headquarters.

After many hours, the team returned to the Headquarters. Chin and Catherine arrived first. They went upstairs and after some minutes, Danny and Kono arrived with a suspect. Catherine looked at the suspect and then at Danny. "Who's this guy?", she said. "He is a smartass guy from the SWAT headquarters, who attempted to run away when he saw us", Danny said. "Not to mention that he tried to shoot at us", Kono added. "Lock him in the interrogation room and make him talk", Chin said. Kono and Danny left to interrogate the suspect. After a while, Chin looked at Catherine. "I am going to help Danny and Kono. Are you coming?", he said. "I don't think so Chin. I will stay here. But, if you need any help, just call me and i will come", Catherine said. Chin nodded and left. Catherine, entered her office and tried to contact Steve again, without success. Then, she called Jennifer and Jason. A voice was heard on the other side of the line. "Hello", Jason said. "Hey, little sailor. It's mommy. Did daddy show up?", Catherine asked. "Not yet mommy. Me and Jennifer are alone since you left for work", Jason replied. "Just stay quiet, ok?", Catherine said. "Yes mommy!", Jason said and closed the phone. Catherine was nervous and afraid. Steve hadn't showed up since morning and he wasn't answering to his phone. Many strange thoughts were in Cath's mind, but she was not sure about anything yet. The time was running, and Catherine's fear was getting bigger and bigger. While she was absorbed in her thoughts, Chin, Kono and Danny came upstairs. Chin saw Catherine. "Hey, Catherine. Are you ok?", Chin said. "Ye.. yeah, i'm fine. Just a little bit stressed from work", Catherine said in order to hide her fear and her concern. "Just go home Cath. It's late anyway. We will continue tomorrow", Kono said. The team left and everyone headed to their home.

The next morning, Catherine, woke up, and after doing the appropriate preparations for her kids, she went to her job. Steve hadn't showed up yet. When, she arrived, she found Kono, Danny and Chin there. "Did Steve show up?", Kono said. "No, not yet. And i have called him more than 100 times. I think that something bad has happened to him", Catherine said. "You seem to be very tired. Didn't you sleep at night?", Chin said. "No. How can a woman sleep, when her husband hasn't showed up for 2 days?", Catherine said while tears had started falling on her cheeks. Kono approached Catherine and hugged her. "Don't cry Catherine. Steve will return home, that's for sure", Kono said. "Yeah, but what if he has cheated on me?", Catherine said. "Hey, don't you even dare to say that again. Steve loves you. You, Jennifer and Jason are his family. He would never do this to you", Kono said. "Cath, you'd better go home and rest. You are a mess", Danny said. "I will agree with Danny", Chin said. "It's ok guys. I will help you with the case, just to have my mind busy and avoid thinking of bad scenarios about Steve", Catherine said. "As you wish", Chin said. "Come on, let's get back to work. We have a case to solve", Catherine said. The team went over the interractive table and started working on the case.
