Intro

“Hello uncle Charley”

“Hey kitten; I have a job for you”

“I’m at the hospital working at the moment I can’t really talk right now.”

“The job I need you for consist of you leaving first thing in the morning to New York so I need to know if you’re going to take it”

“I’m off for the weekend but I will have to be back here by 5 Monday evening, is that possible?”

“Well that all depends on how fast you can do this job”

“Alright fax me the details and the flight plans to my house and I will be on it.”

“You got it kitten! I knew I could count on you”

“Bye uncle Charley, love you”

“Love you too kitten”

I put the phone back into the pocket of my scrubs and started my rounds so I could get what needed to be done and head home. That’s when I ran into Dr. Carson or as he likes to be called Jack. He has every nurse wanting him, every nurse but me. He has dirty blond hair and the brightest blue eyes I have ever seen. He has a great body, everyone can tell he works out on a daily basis and his skin has the perfect touch of sun. He is quite the looker but my heart belongs to someone else.

“Renee I get off in a half hour, want to grab something to eat with me?” he asked in his perfect tone of voice. At that moment I could hear the other nurses sigh with sadness. Out of all the nurses that wanted him, he wanted me and the nurses couldn’t stand it.

“I can’t tonight Dr. Carson I have a ‘family matter’ I have to take care of this weekend, maybe next time.” It wasn’t a total lie my uncle Charley did call and say he needed me and he is family, he just didn’t need to know the details.

“Oh okay, maybe next time then” he said with a hit of sadness in his voice.

Every time we have a shift together which is most of the time since he is in charge of scheduling he asks me for a bite to eat. Due to the lack of a head nurse Dr. Carson is in charge of the schedule and I always have a reason why I can’t join him. Maybe one day he will stop asking and move on to the next nurse.

After checking on my last patient for the night I headed to the locker room to grab my belongings and that’s when Dr. Carson entered the room. I knew he was there for me because he has his own office he didn’t need to use the locker room.

“Night Dr. Carson, have a good weekend” I said trying to walk past him. He grabbed my arm to stop me and my eyes were glued to his. The warmth of his hand on my arm sent my heart racing.

“Jack, please call me Jack” he said to me in a soft voice as he moved his face closer to mine. I couldn’t break eye contact with him he had some kind of control over me that I didn’t know he had. He leaned closer and the aroma of his aftershave and cologne mixed together in perfect harmony in my nose. His lips touched mine sending shocks through my body. He slowly moved his hand off of my arm and put it around my waist.

I couldn’t help but enjoy his kiss. I haven’t kissed anyone since; well let’s just say I haven’t kissed anyone in a long time. He finally broke free of the kiss but I was still stunned and standing there with my eyes still closed like a fool when he said, “Have a great weekend Renee” and then he was gone.

Getting my thoughts back together I headed out of the room and headed for my car walking fast to avoid any conversations from anyone who may try and stop me from getting to my destination. Home was on my mind and all the packing I would have to do when I got there. When in reality all I wanted to do this weekend I just relax and catch up on sleep but I guess that was out the window.
