Part Seventeen: Cause I Like You

"It was ridiculous, we are not going to the school again" Elena threw herself to their bed, hating the idea of school and for several reasons Klaus could not agree more. He sat down in the bed, they were preparing to sleep and it was passing the midnight.

"Looks like I need to compel your teachers" Klaus teased her as he laid down next to her. Elena narrowed her eyes and shook her head. "No? Then what I need to do?" Elena chuckled and snuggled up into his chest. "You need to sleep, then we can think about it in the morning"

Elena was about to sleep but her eyes got wide open with the idea. "Fuck" She cursed, whispered, but Klaus was able to hear her. He frowned and looked down to her face with confusion "Katherine, Katherine would recognize you if she saw you!"

Now Elena was panicked, Klaus chuckled and and kissed her hair. "No need to worry love, she won't be around for a long time" Elena frowned and gulped, looking at the man laying beside him. "What did you do to Katherine?"

"Don't worry about her, she will never be a problem. All I want is your happiness my love, don't forget that" Elena took a deep breath and nodded. Klaus looked down to her, kissing her temple as he was thanking himself for not to kill Katherine. "I love you, and I would do everything to protect you, you know that don't you love?"

Elena nodded again and smiled. "I know, I love you too" He smiled as she whispered softly, playing with his blonde curls so that he can sleep. She was not aware that he was not going to sleep.

Once Elena had fallen asleep, Klaus got out of the bed and walked out of their room. He sighed, there were million things he wished to do the rather than dealing with Katherine, and they all contained Elena but again for protecting Elena, he had to deal with Katherine.

He entered the soundproof room where Katherine was chained up. She snarled as he entered the room, causing him to narrow his eyes. "You know, I was thinking about killing you but Elena did not like the idea"

"Elena knows I am here? Elena knows who you are?" Klaus narrowed his eyes as he sat down in front of Katherine who was looking at him with shock. "She knows who I am and she knows she should not be worrying about you. She is pretty clever, she can probably sort it all out by herself"

"You are using her" Katherine snarled. Elena did not specifically adored Katherine but the older doppelgänger had some weird kind of respect towards her. "No, I love her" Katherine raised her eyebrows with shock but gulped and decided to forget about it. Mostly because she did not believe that he could love Elena. "And much to your surprise, she loves me back"

"You know you'll ruin her, you ruin every single thing you touch" Katherine appeared to be more courageous, thinking she had seen the worst. "You see Katerina, she is willing to get ruined. That's what lovers do, but how can you know? You know nothing about love except tearing it apart in your emotionally anorexic ways"

"And you? Hoping your salvation is a seventeen year old witch, so hellbent on killing her twin sister, what does that say about you?" Klaus chuckled darkly, reminding Katerina that she had crossed her line. Katherine gulped, tried to back away but she was not able to. "I don't need a salvation nor I am looking for a savior. However, maybe I should compel you to rip your own tongue out"

Katherine looked taken back, making him smirk. "How little you know about me Katerina, it would amaze you. Or whosoever cared to look deeper" He looked at her, thinking about everything happened in the last five centuries. "Every bad guy, that is what they call us after all, has a soft spot for someone, just like you have. That one person you would put even before your survival"

Katherine's mind slipped into Stefan, he was right. She gulped, making Klaus smirk even wider. He walked in front of her and started to compel her. "I want you to stab yourself with this stake on the leg, until I demand otherwise"

Katherine took the stake and started to stab herself repeatedly, every time she was hissing in pain, enjoying Klaus more than ever. He left the cellar, hoping this would shut her mouth. Because he might be smirking but her words hurt him, he didn't want to ruin the one good thing ever happened to him.

He walked into their bedroom where Elena was laying down, but not sleeping. Klaus frowned and got into the bed. She looked at him with confusion. "Where were you?" He shrugged and embraced her tightly. Elena looked at him and sighed. "Why don't you tell me?"

"I was with Katerina who is currently in our basement, and alive" Elena's eyes widened and looked at her lover with shock. "Oh my God, you are not joking" Klaus shook his head and pressed his lips on her hair. "She told me something, something made me think"

Elena raised an eyebrow and looked at her lover, trying to understand what Katerina had said that impressing that left an impact. "She told me that I will ruin you, like every other thing I touch"

"Katerina is a fool" She was quick to remark, she hated how she was able to get under his skin. He sighed and looked at her, maybe with the vulnerability she will never be able to see. "But she is right" Elena closed her eyes and sighed, shaking her head.  "No she isn't. You won't ruin me, and even if you will I am here for you to ruin me. After all, that's what lovers do"

Klaus smiled with her answer, they were thinking the exact same thing after all, were not they? Or maybe he did not want to believe that they were telling themselves the same lies, he just hoped that they were right.

a/n: i forgot to publish yesterday because i was binge reading a kolena fanfic, and now i am inspired. what would you say about me writing a long run kolena fanfic?
