Mrs. Weasley woke us up bright and early the next morning before she headed off. We quickly got changed and then made our way downstairs where Mrs. Weasley decided to tell us all about a love potion she'd made when she was a little girl, while I decided to read my school books ahead of time. All three of them were rather giggly.
We soon got in the cars that would take us to the train station. I was in a car with Ron, Harry, Hermione, and Mr.Weasley. When we finally got to the station, we stopped in front of platforms nine and ten.
"Right then," Mr. Weasley said, glancing around them. "Let's do this in pairs, as there are so many of us. I'll go through first with Harry."
Mr. Weasley strolled toward the barrier between platforms nine and ten, pushing Harry's trolley and apparently very interested in the InterCity 125 that had just arrived at platform nine. With a meaningful look at Harry, he leaned casually against the barrier. Harry imitated him.
Everyone left in pairs until it was just Mrs. Weasley and me. I looked up at her, with wide eyes. "Scared dear?" she asked and I nodded. "Well don't worry, I'll guide you." she said. She grabbed the trolley on either side of me and we started running through the barrier. I closed my eyes expecting to hit solid wall, but instead feeling nothing.
When I opened my eyes again I was staring up at a majestic scarlet steam train with the words Hogwarts Express on it. My eyes shining, we made our way to the rest of the Weasley's, my brother, and Hermione.
I smiled when I saw my aunt there and rushed over to her, clinging onto her. She giggled as she and the Weasley parents started chatting.
I felt tears burning in my eyes.
Mrs. Weasley and Charlotte's aunt knelt down to Charlotte's height as soon as she realized she had gotten quiet. "What's wrong, dear?" Mrs. Weasley asked.
"I'm just....nervous is all." Charlotte whispered.
"Don't worry. It's normal to be nervous. But you'll have Harry and the Weasley's, and you'll make a bunch of new friends." her mother added
At that moment a tear slipped from Charlotte's eye and Mrs. Weasley and Violet pulled the young girl into a hug.
"You'll have a fantastic time at Hogwarts. You'll learn so many new things, make many new friends, and make great memories. You can always write to us as much as you want." Mrs. Weasley told her.
The three pull away and Charlotte nods. "Thank you." she said giving Mrs. Weasley one last final hug. "Come on Char. The train is about to leave." Harry says.
"I love you baby." her aunt said, giving her one last gentle hug.
Charlotte looks at Mr. and Mrs. Weasley and her aunt one last time before finally boarding the train. She, Harry, Hermione, and Ron wave at the couple as the train leaves the station.
When the parents could no longer be seen, Charlotte entered a compartment that had a boy and three other girls in it. "Do you mind if I sit here with you guys?" she asked and the others nodded.
"Yes of course!" a girl with black hair and startling electric blue eyes said cheerfully. "Are you taking this opportunity to make me miserable, sis?" the boy next to her asked and she sighed. "Seriously, this is our first year, of course I want to make friends." she said glaring at him.
"Just for that Jake, you can put our new comer's trunk up on the rack." his twin said before patting the seat next to her as he sighed, rolling his eyes at her.
She sat down and flashed a smile at everyone in the compartment. "I'm Charlotte. Charlotte Potter." she introduced herself. "I'm Arya. Arya Stark and my twin Jake." she introduced herself and her twin.
"I'm Samantha Chase. I'm a halfblood" said a girl with blonde hair and sea green eyes. "And I'm Lindsay Valadez, a muggle." said a girl with red hair, brown eyes, and tons of freckles on her cheeks.
"Did you say your last name was Potter?" Jake asked her and she nodded. "Yeah, my brother is Harry Potter."
"Lucky!" Arya squealed, before flipping her hair back. "So, we can make a promise?" Samantha asked. Everyone nodded as they looked at her. "No matter what house we're sorted into we'll still stick by each other, no matter what."
"Of course!" everyone chorused. At that moment, the train squealed to a sudden halt and, everything went cold. I heard everyone gasp from the sudden change of temperature. A sense of dread began to fill me and I struggled to keep it together for just a few more minutes.
I shivered and looked around at everyone else, meeting pale faces and wide eyes. "What's going on?" Lindsay asked as we all stared at each other wide-eyed.
"Maybe we've broken down?" Samantha asked as the lights flickered, the air growing colder by the second. "A magical train breaking down?" Jake asked.
"I'm going to go see if my brother knows what's happening." I said getting up and leaving the compartment. I walked down the train, shivering until I came face to face with a dark hooded creature.
It came closer, sucking the life out of me, making me feel as though I'd never be happy again. Suddenly a hand grabbed my waist pulling me behind them. As I collapsed I heard him calling out for help and that's when I registered that it was Draco Malfoy before blacking out, hearing a woman's voice screaming and a man crying.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ah, you're awake." A voice startled me as I sat up, groaning as I did. "Hey, slow down. Eat this it'll help."
I took the item placed in my hand and took a bite. Chocolate.
"What happened?" I asked, my eyes wandering around until they landed on a man sitting across from me. "Where are we?" The man was wearing ragged robes, his face pale and tired, littered with scars, but he had kind eyes, and his concern for me was evident.
"A hospital carriage. I bet you didn't know we had one." he smiled at me as I shook my head. "You were in the aisle and Mr. Malfoy pulled you away from the dementor. When you collapsed he called out for help so I took you here to recover privately. And as for the question you will most likely ask, a dementor is a guard of Azkaban. They feed on happiness, make it so you can only relive your worst memories."
"Did....anyone else pass out?" I asked shakily.
"Harry did, but he woke up a while ago." he sighed slightly. "The dementors affect those of us with....difficult pasts more than others. So don't view this as you being weak. If anything this proves how strong you are."
I was silent for a few moments, taking deep breaths. The memories of Uncle Vernon treating me, beating me whenever Harry wasn't around. A secret I kept to myself. I looked at the man again, a memory trying to find it's way up. "You look familiar." I commented and the man chuckled.
"I'll take you to your brother now. He's been worried sick about you." He said and I followed him down until we reached the compartment my brother and his friends were in. "Harry!" I shouted and launched myself at his pacing body.
He sighed in our embrace before looking up. "Thank you Professor." the man nodded at him. "Professor?" I asked and he nodded. "Professor R. J. Lupin." The last name caught my attention, but at that moment we had arrived at Hogwarts and my new life began.
