"Hello girls, welcome to the looklab studio. I'm Nikki, this is Sugar Sweet from the Uk. I am so excited to talk to you today."
"Thank you."
"Thank you for having us." Natalia spoke up louder than the others.
"So you are Margot, Evie, Natalia and Mia." Nikki called, pointing to each of the girls as they nodded in response. "So tell me girls, where does the name Sugar Sweet come from?"
"Umm well we didn't have a name for ages and then we just thought about the fact we are all girls and there's a popular saying that girls are made of sugar and spice and as a kind of rock inspired girl band we were always told to act sweet and nice and then I guess as a retaliation and kind of a contradiction we came up with sugar sweet and it stuck." Natalia explained seeming as none of the others wanted to.
"I love that. So I wanted to ask a little bit about your style influences and who inspires you the most in music?"
"Each of us?" Margot asked and received a nod of approval, "umm okay well I don't really have one particular person I get all my influence from but I'd probably say Patty Schemel, the drummer in hole. Just her drumming ability and her general coolness I don't know."
"Well I don't think it's a secret how much I love Courtney Love." Evie laughed. "But yeah umm definitely Courtney Love and PJ Harvey and maybe Gwen Stefani. Just the way they all use their femininity in such a way is really inspirational to me as a singer and a front woman."
"Mhm um it's probably a weird one but generally I get a lot of inspiration musically and in fashion from Jimi Hendrix and a lot of other psychedelic rock pioneers." Natalia added quietly.
"Yeah Gwen Stefani in No Doubt is a standout but also in music and fashion Melissa Auf der Maur in Hole again." Mia finalised.
"Amazing, a lot of really strong women there." Nikki applauded and continued with the interview. "I also wanted to ask about what happened in the hotel on your first night, there's some rumours from Germany."
"Oh no, what have they said?" Evie spoke out in a worried tone, hiding her head in her hands again.
"Oh nothing bad I'm just curious." Nikki reassured.
"So the first night we got here we had to stay in our rooms and it was quite boring so I couldn't help but open the mini bar." Evie explained as the others held back smiles and laughter. "Yeah and I got a bit drunk."
"A bit drunk is an understatement." Natalia added making Nikki laugh just as much as Mia and Margot who were struggling to hold it back as they remembered the night.
"Yeah well anyway I got drunk and started dancing in my room and we had a complaint from Germany so were told by our manager to leave the hotel but I ended up making a bigger fool of myself when I was screaming one of our songs outside the windows of Måneskin's rooms." Evie finished, sniggering herself at the situation that she had found herself in.
"That is hilarious, what did they say?"
"They were laughing about it too." Margot added leaving Evie embarrassed again.
"Okay so I've spoken to quite a few other countries so far about how they found out they were going to represent their countries and what that was like so I want to hear from you too."
"Yeah we were actually asked by our manager Summer if we wanted to take part quite a while ago and our first reaction was actually not that sure about it mainly because of the kind of stigma surrounding Eurovision in the uk but Summer was constantly reassuring us that it would be a great opportunity for us so we just went for it and so far we're glad we did." Evie answered smiling towards Nikki politely.
