The raven had flown all the way to the collector, but on the way back, the Ministry intercepted him.

Tina's P.O.V.

Tina jolted up to a tapping sounded on the window. A ministry owl sat on the ledge.

Tina: (muttering to herself) What's the Ministry want at midnight?

She took the parchment from the owl's beak, then the bird flew away. Tina opened the letter and read:

'We intercepted this this evening. We believe you and you're husband would want to see it.'

Tina shook her head in confusion before looking closely at the other piece of parchment.

Tina: (letting go of the letter; going upstairs) Newt!

Left there, the letter was words up. It read:

'Well done. Make sure little Evelyn and her family no nothing about this.'

Evelyn's P.O.V.

Evelyn woke up, face first in a book, in the library. Helen sat next to her, very much asleep and drooling into the pages.

Evelyn: (quietly; giggling) Ew, gross....

Helen: (snorting slightly; still asleep) Mummy, I don't want that....

Evelyn: (shaking Helen slightly) Helen, come on. Wake up.

Evelyn continued shaking Helen awake until she noticed Emory wasn't there, too. Evelyn finally woke Helen, then she grabbed her friend by the wrist and ran out of the library. Out in the corridor, Evelyn looked around frantically.

Helen: (yawning; rubbing her eyes) Evie, what's the matter?

Evelyn: (still turning her head) Emory left the library.

Helen: (looking back in library) What d'you mean? She's right there.

Evelyn looked around to see Emory walking towards them. Her hair was wet and her clothes looked like they'd been cleaned.

Emory: (approaching them) Someone pointed me in the direction of the showers. When I got out, my clothes were washed and as warm a roasted marshmallow.

Evelyn looked at Emory and smiled; relieved she didn't get lost. Evelyn moved her head to beckon Emory to follow them to the Great Hall.

They were about to walk into the Great Hall, when Evelyn heard her name being called. She turned around.

Newt: (searching for his daughter) Evie!

Evelyn: (meeting his gaze) Dad? What happened?

Newt: (finally over to Evelyn) Thank Merlin, you're safe.

Evelyn: (shocked) Safe? Safe from what? Dad, what's going on?

Newt: (locking eye contact with her) Your mother and I got a letter from the Ministry. They'd intercepted another letter. Our family is in danger.

Emory's P.O.V.

Emory stood there with Helen, shocked and nervous. Did they know? She suddenly felt a surge of pain in her arm. She gasped a little. Helen looked at her.

Helen: (with a worried tone) Emory? Are you alright?

Emory: (nodding) Yeah. I just need the toilet.

Emory ran down the hall, into the toilets and shut the door to a stall sitting down on the edge of the toilet seat. She pulled her sleeve up and looked down at her forearm. There, on her arm, she bore the words;

Stupid girl

Emory pulled her sleeve back down. Every time something bad happened that wasn't to plan, her mother wrote down another word that appeared on her forearm. Emory walked to the sinks and ran some water; splashing it in her face. She looked over her shoulders, then rolled up her sleeve and ran water over her scars.

She jumped when the door opened and Evelyn walked in. Emory quickly rolled her sleeve down, but not quick enough. Evelyn looked at Emory's arm as she sleeve covered the scars.

Evelyn: (still looking at Emory's arm) Is that the reason you said you're in danger?

Emory: (sighing slightly) Yes.

Evelyn walked over to her and rolled up Emory's sleeve, examining the scarred writing all the way up her forearm. Evelyn ran her fingers over words like 'below average; idiot; dunce'

Evelyn: (looking up to meet Emory's gaze) Those are horrible things!

Emory: (nodding) I know. I know. That's why I left.

Evelyn stared into Emory's eyes, trying to decipher the weird feeling she had. Was she able to trust Emory? It seemed like a foolish question, but there was a tiny glint in Emory's eye that seemed off.

Evelyn stepped back and nodded.

Evelyn: (walking to the door) Well, my parents are probably wondering why I came in here.

Emory: (plucking up courage) What things does Helen like?

Evelyn: (turning around; slightly confused at the question) She likes.... Joey.

Evelyn walked out the door. Emory felt her heart sink lower and lower into her chest as she kicked her foot against the sink. Another let down. But, truly, who had feelings like her?
