"Hey Brownies! It's your girl, Steph. Coming to you with another vlog. I'm at the newest coffee house in Gotham City. The Bat Brew." Stephanie Brown said, the minute she started the video on her phone. Her voice easygoing and bright as if she were talking to her best friend in the world and not her phone. She lifted the camera up to capture the image of a large bat symbol airbrushed on the wall inside of a coffee mug. "One guess as to where they got that idea from."
She deliberately paused and walked into the coffee house. "That's right, guys. Other superheroes, like the Flash, get coffees named after them. The Batman gets his own coffee shop, which is conveniently 15 minutes from my house. So, I hope you guys like what you see. I might be here a lot if they have good Caramel Frappuccino's, Frost Lattes, Canary Cream Coffee and Supergirl Expressos. No exceptions. They have to nail them all."
The camera then blurs Stephanie's face and comes back to clarity on the menu on the monitor, which is showcasing the specials of the day.
"Oh, the Black Bat Brew. That's new. I like the name. Maybe I'll try that one. Wonder if they have anything named for Batman? Other than the place, of course."
Each drink named after a superhero had an illustration as a background.
"Okay, we have the classic Batgirl Boost and Morning Robin, but wait a minute."
She zooms in on the image of the Red Robin on the screen. "That's not Robin. It's Red Robin. Do they not know those are two different guys?"
The camera cuts back to her face. "Guys, I know the names are almost the same, but the Red Robin is taller than the Robin. Like you can ask my friends, Dani and Maxi, over at the KnightWatchers Podcast, they report on any vigilante sighting in Gotham. I'm pretty sure they were the first ones to spot the Red Robin. I don't know, I think he's tall."
"As flattered as I am by your confidence in my height," Tim Drake, Steph's boyfriend of almost a year, said putting her order ( Black Bat Brew, Steph was sure she would tell Cass about.) down in front her while she sat at a booth editing her video. "I might consider editing that out."
"It's fine. You can only see my face in the shot, plus I can always split the frames from the audio and put the audio part somewhere else so they can't read my body language." Steph answered, pulling the coffee mug closer to her. "Or in this case, my face."
"Vocal fluctuations are hard to control but easy to detect if you know what to look for." Tim said, sipping his Caramel Frappuccino.
"I think I'm a pretty good actress." Steph shrugged with confidence, "I'm always getting compared to Amber Heard in the comment section."
Steph's Youtube channel, which she had started back in high school, had gotten an unexpected boost in popularity after she was one of the first ( in the Gotham area, at least) to upload a movie vlog/review video of watching Netflix's To All the Boys I Loved Before. Prior to that, she'd been making short videos about the Gotham vigilantes ( for her dad, but that was another story), which had a similar style to her movie review video that meant those who watched the first one liked it ( for the most part) too. Then, over the summer she thought it'd be funny to make videos vlog of her and Tim watching the sequel movies ( with the title Making My Boyfriend Watch P.S. I Still Love and Always and Forever) and that got her a huge popularity boost. In part, because of Tim's prep school friends and classmates spreading around the videos.
"I totally agree, but I don't think that's because of your acting skills, Steph." Tim said, "My mom thinks so, too. Only she said the blonde actress from a Criminal Minds episode that she first thought was J.J."
"Sometimes I wish she was." Steph sighed, who liked shipping characters ( and sometimes her friends).
"I don't understand that. I thought you liked Will." Tim said, referring to J.J.'s husband.
