My mom had abruptly decided to move to Pasadena, California. She didn't have the money, but she did it anyways and she took me with her.

We moved into a very small 900 square foot house near the outskirts of town and I watched as she unpacked boxes, little three year old me couldn't help much. I hear a knock on the door and watched as she jogs to get it.

"Hello?" She says

"Hello, we're the neighbors from a few blocks down, we wanted to welcome you." A voice says

"Thanks so much, I really appreciate it." She smiles "I'm (moms name)."

"Nice to meet you, I'm Eugenia and this is one of my two boys, Edward."

"Well it's very nice to meet you, would you like to come for dinner later?"

"Thank you, sure we will."

"Y/n." My mom calls to me

I waddle near to my mom, hiding behind her as my eyes go wide when I see the people.

"This is my little girl y/n, she's just turned three."

"Oh what a coincidence, Edward turned three a few months back."

"How sweet, well, we'll see you later."

And that was the first time I saw Eddie.

Time skip

I play in the front yard, scribbling on the concrete with a piece of chalk, humming along to some random song. I hear someone run close to me and stop right in front of me.

"Happy birthday!" It was Eddie

"Thank you! I'm five now." I giggle

"Now we're both five!" He grins

I hand him a piece of chalk and the two of us scribble on the pavement. My mom comes outside and invites the two of us inside.

"Edward, would you like some birthday cake?" She asks him

"Yes please mrs. Y/l/n."

She hands us plates of cake with small plastic forks and we munch away. She smiled at us.

Time skip

"Eddie, can you believe it's already summer vacation! And next year is middle school!" I say

"I know, it all happened so quick!"

"Yea, but hey, Alex goes to that middle school so I guess it's less scary." I shrug

"Maybe." He says "hey I made you something."

He pulls out a piece of paper from his pocket.

"It's a paper ring!" He says, grabbing my hands and sliding it onto my ring finger

"Wow thanks Ed." I smile

"Yea, anything for a best friend."

Time skip

I walk to my locker, popping my bubblegum as I open it. I pack it with my books and headed out of the school and straight for my house to finish homework.

I sit on my bed, my pencil scratching away at the almost filled sheet of math problems. I hear the phone ring and I rush to get it.

"Hey y/n, it's josh." It was my boyfriend

"Oh hey josh what's up?"

"I actually needed to talk to you."

"Ok?"
