I wake up the next day, Eddie's arm gently wrapped around my waist. The clock read 1:27 p.m., Eddie would wake any minute.

"Morning." I hear a groggy voice

"Afternoon." I reply

"Oh shit it's that late already?"

"Yea, haven't you got a gig later?"

"Yea at 9:00. But sound check is at 8:30."

"So we have plenty of time." I say

"Well the drive is like two and a half hours, and we still need time to pack up our shit, and eat lunch." He says

"So we'll be leaving by like 3:00, and get back to your place by like 5:30 if we don't stop anywhere." I plan

"More realistically, we leave at 3:45, get there by 6:15, leaving us time to pack for the gig. So we should get there on time." He shrugs

"That's if we don't stop to get gas or anything." I say

"Yea so we should be two or three minutes late, who knows." He wraps his arm more firmly around me

"Ed, we have to get up." I say

"I know."

Minutes pass and we finally get up, getting ready for the day. I wore black jeans and a black cropped shirt and one of Eddie's flannels. I then helped him pack some stuff and get it into the car. We get lunch and coffee, by then it's about 4:00 p.m.

We get in the car and start to drive, blasting Led Zeppelin and ZZ Top, probably driving faster than we should've been. And hour passes and I hear a loud noise.

"What the hell was that?" I say

"Don't know, it didn't sound too bad." He shrugs and keeps driving

I then hear it again, even louder and the car comes to a stop.

"What the hell?!" I say, getting out of the car

Eddie opens the hood and we see as smoke starts to pour out. I take a look in the engine as the smoke starts to clear up. I didn't see anything at first and kept searching.

"Y/n there's a gas station across the street, you could use the phone while I try to figure out what's wrong." Ed suggests

"Yea sure." I walk over to the gas station

I walk into the building and ask for the phone, deciding on dialing my close friend, Jamie.

"Hello?" She says

"It's y/n, I'm with Ed, his car broke down I don't know what the fuck to do." I say

"You're with Ed?! So that's where the $20 in my purse went!"

"Yah but that's not important right now! Ed's car was literally fucking smoking and shit." I say

"Aren't you good with cars y/n?"

"Yea but I don't know if Ed and I are gonna get to the gig in time." I say

"That's not important, just don't spend too much money cuz you owe me a $20." She says "besides, I'm not planning on going to the gig so it's not even a big deal."

"Yea I can pay you back extra, I won a ton of cash." I smile "but you should go to the gig, for Alex."

"Not for Alex."

"Why not? How about for Eddie? Or for the free beer!"

"I'm sober, and no not for Ed either. So if not for them, for you." She says

"No not for me, that's weird. Why not for Ed?"

"Well I assumed you were going for Ed."

"Nah I'm going for the free beer!"

"That makes you a bad girlfriend." She laughs

"Fine I'm going for Ed, but you should come." I say

"Fine. But how'd you win all that cash?" She asks

"Some contests at a bar, I'll tell you more later."

"Ok well just try and be safe." She says

"K, see ya." The line goes dead

I jog back to the car and examine the engine again. It then clicked, I knew what was wrong.

"Ed, all I need to do is somehow connect these two wires." I say

"How?" He asks

"Electrical tape, got any?"

"Surprisingly yes, I use it for my amp."

He tosses me the tape and I fix up the wires, checking for any other problems which I didn't see any. I tell him to start the car and he does so, everything went well. We hit the road again, it was now 7:34. We were definitely gonna be late.

Another hour passes and we pull up to Eddie's place, grabbing his equipment.

"Hey Ed do you have any extra t shirts? Mine is kinda covered in grease." I ask

"Yea sure."

He tosses me a black tank top and we quickly make it to the gig, twenty two minutes late.

"The hell have you guys been?" Alex asks

"His car broke down man." I say

"Oh jeez, well we've got a quick sound check, y/n you can go backstage if you want." Michael says

"Thanks." I nod

I grab a beer and make my way backstage, it was nearly empty. I thought Jamie would be here by now. I hear as Ed and them work in soundcheck and eventually hear as Jamie walks in.

"You're late, fooling around with your boyfriend or something?" I ask, sipping on my beer

"No! You're clearly late too, probably fooling around with Eddie." She says

"Bro his fucking car broke down." I say

"Oh yea I forgot." She giggles

I roll my eyes, listening to them as they open up their show. With Eddie's unique guitar sound and Michael's steady beat in his bass, perfectly pairing with Alex's drums and then layering David's vocals, it was all so perfect, it was nothing anyone was doing or had ever done before.

Two hours later the show ends, I sit backstage with Jamie, smoking a cigarette and sipping on my beer. The guys all come backstage, Eddie walking straight towards me and sitting beside me on the couch.

"Show was good." I say

"Think so?"

"Yea totally!"

"Thanks." He laughs

"Wait so why were you two so late?" Alex asks

"Al man, they were probably fucking in the back of Eddie's car man." Michael winks

"We weren't, his fucking car broke down man I swear!" I smile

"Yea, but we're kinda busy tonight so we're gonna go." Eddie says, taking my hand

He leads me out to his car after packing his things and we drive straight to my place.

"Ed what're we doing?" I ask

"Your parents are never home." He smirks
